  1. While you are at how about doing the same for guys with no head coach experience who come in and do great right off the bat. You don't have to go back further than Rhule and Wilkes to see how that worked out in their first gig. I suspect that there have been a bunch of guys with no head coach experience who flamed out at this first gig.
  2. Fitterer did the draft and free agency this year and likely will draft another QB this year if he finds a gem falling. But coaching is different. You need an experienced coach who can develop your players and get the best out of them by effort or scheme, hopefully both. But is that the job of the head coach or the coordinator and qb coach.
  3. McDermott struggled when he first got here. It is pretty normal for new guys to take time to develop players they want for their scheme. And remember how Gettlemen used to change out players like you do on madden and chemistry was always an issue. We changed corners every year. Wilkes has done a good job with what he had to work with.
  4. We were pretty good when Wilkes was here the first time.
  5. Let someone else take the chance for once and get someone who learned the ropes on someone else's roster.
  6. Yeah I have heard that before when we hired all the other guys that we gave a first chance to. I want a proven commodity with head coaching experience. If we don't have that, then go with Wilkes who has already changed the culture and hopefully keeps winning. Plus he has head coach experience and has literally taken the same team with less talent than Rhule had to start with, and is making them believe in themselves and showing what being a Panther is all about. The history and pride in this franchise. Something a new guy can't replicate outside of guys like Reich, Turner and Dorsey who have been here before.
  7. At least he has head coach experience and a winning record as a head coach. Why was he fired though???
  8. Yeah. What experience does he have at the job he would be assuming??? None
  9. So he is a great coordinator or quarterback coach. Why does that make a qualified head coach??
  10. How much head coach experience at any level. Not important??
  11. Plus much of Buffalo's success seems to be Allen doing it himself making ridiculous plays. The offensive system doesn't appear much better than a lot of other systems. And Dorsey has no head coach experience at all and has been a coordinator for one year. Another unproven guy with little to no experience. Versus Wilks who has proven he could take a losing team that dumped their best talent and turn them into a competitive team shuffling QBs every week.
  12. So it seems lots of folks are on the steichen bandwagon but really what has he done? No head coach experience at any level and he has only been a coordinator since 2019. He was with the Rams for a year and apparently not retained and if my timeline is correct he left before they won the Superbowl. So other than Philly what has he done?? Question is whether his system is so great or is it he has a great QB much like Shula had Cam. He might be great but do we want to hire another unproven guy with little experience hoping for another Sean McVay or someone with proven ability to be a head coach. For me I am tired of picking guys with no head coaching experience and developing them while they learn on the job.
  13. Rumor is the health reason is alcohol related.
  14. He is making 2 million this year. The average for good running backs is closer to 6 or 7 a year. He has been good to very good this year. I would give him a 3 year deal for 15 million. Give him a 6 million signing bonus with a cap hit of around 3 million for 2023. If you don't guarantee much you aren't on the hook for much dead cap money.
  15. Let's see how we finish the year. Let's see how Wilkes does the rest of the way. If we beat Pittsburgh at home his worth in Tepper's view will go way up. 4 home game wins in a row and a 3 game winning streak. It is nice to be included in the conversation in December.
  16. I don't see him being ROY at all. I think he will be great down the road but he makes too many mistakes, commits too many penalties and gets beaten too often. There are rookie receivers for example who are much more deserving of the reward than he is at this point.
  17. I am interested to see how Darnold does after the bye on the road. It should be a big test since we haven't won on the road all season although we should have in Atlanta. Then we come back home against Blitzburgh. Win these games and then let's see what happens. If he wants another contract, then he needs to earn it..........
  18. I think it is too early to close the book of Darnold. He has played 1 game so far. But if we win several of these next games and Darnold manages the games well, he would be someone I would be talking contract terms with. Not too long and more incentive based than guaranteed. But if we can make some noise even in a crappy division we need a starter going into next year and a veteran presence at QB even if we draft another one. Darnold would be on a win streak and Wilks will have coached us to a winning record since he took over. I am interested to see if we can attract better coaches and players.......
  19. They didn't blitz a whole lot and Sam threw it away or dumped it off. He played smart but the noise in Seattle and the pressure Pittsburgh has historically applied are ahead. Let's see how he progresses. I am looking forward to it.
  20. I liked how solid Sam was in the pocket. He didn't rush his progressions and moved laterally or up the pocket to create a throwing lane. He kept looking downfield and looked comfortable which is not something I associate with him. .Maybe watching other guys play for really the first time in his career and studying defenses will pay off. Lets what happens when the heat gets turned up.
  21. Today was fun and the weather turned nice. It is so nice to win at home. Would love to beat the Steelers and you know so would Tepper.
  22. Let's see how he plays against Seattle on the road and then here against Pittsburgh. He has earned another start but he just showed he can be efficient and do his job. Good start and confidence booster. He isn't worth a contract yet.
  23. Assuming these folks who are so great want to come here. Didnt see our name on Sean Payton's list for example.
  24. Everyone says Wilks cant get us to the next level. Yet if he is Rivera 2.0 then he is good enough to get us to the Super Bowl like Rivera did. We just need our Cam Newton.
  25. I have to wonder if our head coach vacancy will generate a lot of great candidates with proven NFL success as a head coach who want to come here. Otherwise how are they an obvious upgrade just because they are offensive minded.
