Everything revolves around Bryce This Year
panthers55 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce won't go anywhere until his rookie deal is up. If we pick in the top 10 next year it will be bringing in another qb to challenge and potentially take over. -

Don't think your comparisons are germaine. Teddy and Bryce are nothing alike. And no I am not always right or wrong but the difference is I let the experts inform me and follow those who do know. And after all the constant wrong takes you go on and on about just like this one, I don't feel like we are kindred souls or like minded. I will be glad to compare my takes versus yours anytime. And have no clue what you are talking about regarding stern lectures. But I can see around here if you take a constant negative approach to everything you get a lot of support and given our track record you may be right about some things. I don't live my life that way nor do I constant like to complain like you. -

I wanted Stroud as well because Reich only wanted folks who fit his scheme and he isn't a good enough coach to adapt to his players. Canales didn't have that choice and was hired knowing that his job was developing Bryce. To his credit he was able to embrace the challenge and make the necessary changes. -

You make little sense trying to argue a point which isn't germaine. If it was a round hole versus square peg that has changed. It no longer applies. So no you aren't in the present or you would acknowledge the change to where they are on the same page. As for the luke Kueckly agreement you finally hit one. Meanwhile not only did I tout Kueckly but others like Cam, CMC, among others when many on this board were critics. -

We are surely overdue. And we better really improve if we are going to appear in the superbowl every 12 years. I think that is 2027. -

That is irrelevant since Canales has adapted his style to Bryce. Here is an article which explains it. Again try to keep up and live in the present. https://www.readoptional.com/p/was-bryce-youngs-leap-for-real -

Until now I agree. I really think Canales is the real deal in the Pete Carroll style of coaching. I don't know if he is an offensive genius like Andy Reid but a huge factor is getting players to buy into your philosophy and leave it all on the field. Players love Canales from what I have read and it seems his staff are good teachers. The jury is still out but this is the most positive I have felt in years. Then again I was hugely fooled by Reich and really thought he be much better than he was. -

Not true at all. This is Bryce's offense designed for him to succeed. Last year was Canale's first year and it has taken time for him to understand his personnel and develop a scheme which maximizes the personnel he has. And it took time for Young to learn Canale's philosophy and scheme. So no they are on the same page and working in concert. That is why he improved each game the second half of the season. As for his deep ball at Alabama he didn't throw many as the scheme was designed for short and intermediate passes and he didn't have the great receivers Mac Jones had for example. After arguing in other posts that context and scheme matter I guess it didn't apply to Young. -

Great coaches adapt their scheme to the personnel they have instead of trying to force players into a scheme that doesn't evolve. -

You have never liked him and trash him at every turn. His rookie year you might have been right but blamed him instead of the terrible offensive line and no receivers to help. Last year with an improved line and better weapons things turned around when he returned from being benched. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/new-stat-panthers-qb-bryce-young-immense-talent-clearer#:~:text=Zach Roberts | May 20%2C 2025&text=Bryce Young broke out last, yards without pressure in 2024.&text=When throwing deep%2C which is,be 13th in the NFL. His deep ball was ranked 10th among all QBs with and without pressure. PFF said his deep ball performance was the best in the league week 12 against KC who ended up in the superbowl. Truth is he has made huge improvements and with his improved receiver corps and consistent offensive line he will be better this year. His deep ball at Alabama was very good so it isn't like this is a shock. You need to allow facts to inform you instead of forming an opinion which you hold onto regardless of reality. -

Lots of opinion and no facts. Typical for you. You decide what reality is and run down that road regardless of the facts. Props for being consistent. -

https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/bryce-young-best-against-pressure-throwing-deep Bryce is good under pressure and with the deep ball according to SI. Where do you get the idea he isn't? Your personal observations? PFF analysis? Just wondering..... -
Let's hope our starters stay healthy. Otherwise it could be a long year if a bunch of injuries show up.

I want us to win at home and make BOA a tough place to play instead of the joke it is now. -
You could tell with all the smiling when he screwed up that he wasn't taking it seriously and half-assing it when he was in.

Winners and Losers: Preseason Game 1

Truth is X showed some fire. Yeah it was stupid but I have no problem with it. We need dogs on both side of the ball. -

So our depth is suspect for sure. Who didn't know that. It has taken us all offseason just to find starters at every position. And it will take all the guys time to gel. What is preseason for? Finding your 53 and who can contribute right away. Did we find a few dogs in Thorton and Bartholomew? And we get to see some guys who we will want to stash on the practice squad. Overall I thought our tackling was much improved and effort was good. They say teams improve the most between the first and second preseason game. Let's hope so. Dalton was awful and he would be scary going in as the starter. And our back seven outside of starters were pretty porous. Keep steadfast and lets see what happens. -
If running to pass really works we got market cornered!!!
panthers55 replied to Doc LRB's topic in Carolina Panthers
Our backfield is finally got the potential to be top 10 surely more likely top 5. Everything suggests that you should have a strong running game to complement your passing game but it isn't running backs that determine that as much as your offensive line. How many years did we go with a mediocre line and then wonder why we gave up so many sacks and were persistent running the ball but not that successful. Getting better at play action and using backs in the passing game as well as running game should make Bryce's job much easier to distribute the ball and get YAC instead of threading the needle. -

It reminds me of the wall the Vikings had with the Williams Brothers. You just couldn't run up the middle. It allowed linebackers to flow to the edges and seal the outside. Plus they can blitz without worrying about the draw for example. Teams will have to pass because we won't let them run. -

Don't think it is garbage. In general we have a younger team and there will be a learning curve for some guys. But our talent level has improved and a lot of our depth players got valuable reps starting for injured guys last year. Plus I think that this group of coaches are good at teaching fundamentals and they have embraced their role teaching the young guys how to be pros. I expect us to be much improved over last year especially on defense. -

You could always stash him on some type of injury reserve if he isn't ready day 1. But his upside as long as his gut issues don't return justify hanging on to him for the time being. -
It's a preseason game, but...losing is not an option.
panthers55 replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
What is a win in the preseason? Figuring out your play calling timing, working on checkdowns and protections, developing consistency cutting down penalties, trying out different down and distance calls. Very little emphasis is on gameplanning for the other team. It about creating depth and gaining game type reps for everyone. -
He thought because people praise him for telling it like it is, that he could do that in other arenas and he was wrong. I didn't like his announcing but I respected his offensive game planning when he was coaching in Tampa. But I didn't think he managed his quarterbacks well and think Canales is got a much better temperament for success. Chucky was never great managing players but overall his players liked him.
