If I were picking a QB it would be Pickett as well. He is ready to go and has all the ingredients necessary to be successful. Then again I told you that Jones would have the best season of any rookie and I was right as usual.
-
What QB has Moore had worth his salt? Smitty had Jake for much of his early career and they had unbelievable chemistry. Then he had Cam and went to Baltimore. Part of the greatest of Moore is producing 1000 yard season with crappy QBs. And Moore is better than good. He is only receiver in the NFL to have 1200 yards in each of his last 3 seasons. The only one. That is more than good, that is elite.
-
He also said that Moore would be good and ultimately replace him. Seems he is right sometimes as well.

The reason Darnold is here and we didn't pick up another veteran is because McAdoo thinks he is good and supposedly one reason he came here was because of Darnold. So I don't think it is Tepper being stubborn as much as he is listening to his staff. Hence the reason we haven't gone after a vet or committed to a QB in the draft.

It seems that Rhule is losing control based on poor results. It appears that Teppers analysis was that Rhule's basic processes and message were good but he allowed Rhule to bring in new guys with little NFL experience. So now Rhule's folks are gone replaced by several which have head coaching experience in the NFL. I actually believe that our offense and special teams will be much improved based on our new coordinators. And the defense should be good again. Seems one of our biggest issues has been lack of adjustments between halfs and when the opponent countered our initial game plan. Hence the reason we often started strong and faded late. I read Fewell was brought in to help with gameplanning and adjustments as well as the secondary. And any OC will be better than what we had. Will it translate to more wins? I hope so. But I am not convinced that Rhule can't learn or that he is so stubborn he can't admit he made mistakes and can learn from guys with more experience. If he can do that it is very likely that we can improve with essentially the same players in many skill positions and upgrades at key spots like OL, punter, and returner for example. And I would like to see Darnold with a competent OC and a system designed around his strengths.

You don't bring in folks with lots of experience and then ignore them. Especially when you are on the hot seat and these folks are your best hope to keep your job.
-
He gets to call time outs and bitch at the ref too. Don't take away all his fun.
-
Of course we all want the next Belichick, but my point was that if he stays in his lane and let the coordinators do their job we could be much improved despite him.
-
It depends on how everyone's role is defined. When Rhule was making the decisions about personnel we made mistakes compounded by an inexperienced staff. With competent people running all phases of the actual football program and good office folks making personnel decisions, it means he can let the football folks do their job while he oversees everything but doesn't have to micromanage everything. Rhule was a good college football guy but not a great NFL football guy although he is learning. If he allows his folks to do their job then no he doesn't have to know everything or be the smartest guy in the room. Often HCs spent more time managing people and herding cats than they do making up gameplans and doing Xs and Os.
-
Tepper appears to like Rhule in the rah rah role so he brought in football folks to run the front office and to actually coach the players. This could work. Let Rhule do what he does best which is talk and use slogans and let the actual football folks do what they do best.

Reaction to Carolina Panthers 1st round pick
panthers55 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Truth is I hope Fitterer trades back a few times and gets us more picks. I hope that they have done their work and find good pieces for our team throughout the draft. I will wait to see how they do before throwing everyone under the bus. -
Pauline doubles down: “Cross won’t fall past 6”
panthers55 replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the Saints will try to get down to 5 or lower to get Pickett. It fits their style and screws Tepper for taking Horn who they were trying to move up to take last year before we rained on their parade. Kills 2 birds with one stone. I think we trade back if we can or get our LT. None of these qbs are worth hitching your wagon to versus a safe OT. -
I have heard that he has very colorful language as he works with the players.

Colts get Gilmore. 2 years 23 mill. 14 guaranteed.
panthers55 replied to NCTHFL0567's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know if he would have played for us or not. With a better coaching staff versus last year I think we will be improved defensively and with some real offensive gameplanning and playcalling we could be competitive. Frankly Rhule is fine as a cheer leader and process manager, if he will let the football guys actually do their job. Signing Donte instead of Gilmore is a huge mistake unless Gilmore absolutely didn't want to be here. -
ELLIS L. WILLIAMS Of the OBSERVER on Jimmy G

Since this is a team sport. Individual stats better tell how much that player contributes to the record. In that case he is anything but elite. -
ELLIS L. WILLIAMS Of the OBSERVER on Jimmy G

So he won't even be able to throw until August, has no experience in our system and has only succeeded when the offense is tailored to his limitations which is one read only. I can't see how that is any better than what we have in Darnold. I would go Mayfield. I think his recent fall from grace and little interest in acquiring him should quell much of that ego and douchbaggery behavior. His comments about wanting to go to a fans cubicle and boo them like he gets on Sunday is likely something all athletes think about when things go poorly. They just don't say it out loud like he did. -
What is the impetus for the “Keep Pounding” pushaway?
panthers55 replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't know about the color change. His new soccer team has almost exactly the same shade of blue jersey. He must like it not to change it. -
I doubt that we will favor Pickett because of school allegiances. I do think if we pick Pickett is means we are substituting potential for current ability and going with the most pro ready guy because they don't have great faith in Darnold. If you pick Willis you have to be willing to.play the long game. I think Rhule and Tepper are desperate to win and want the guy who can best get that done.

KC looking to trade up into top 10.
panthers55 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it depends where you are. We did that last year to an extent thinking we were close and we clearly weren't. But I can absolutely see KC going big given they expect the postseason every year and don't want to waste Mahomes with too little talent. For teams only a few players away I can see them being aggressive. If we get a QB in the draft and it doesn't pan out again, we could be swinging for the fence again next year and being one of those teams. -
So is it better to get tossed out of the tournament early or go to the finals and give up the largest lead ever and lose a close one?

In on every trade.
