  1. I feel for you then. Obviously the losing broke you. Why not pick a team you can be happy about? Or a different sport if you are done with football.
  2. Of course. He missed some shots and threw over or behind some receivers. It wasn't a great performance and Atl brought real pressure. It was great to see the defense play so well that Bryce didn't have to be perfect to win. That is what makes football such a great team sport. One side can pick up the other. The defense bailed out the offense and special teams while special teams kept Atlanta in the hole most of the day.
  3. You clearly didn't watch the game. It wasn't ugly it was glorious. A pick six and almost another by Jackson and keeping Atlanta's rushing game in check after being so porous. You think this is an aberration which it probably is. But I hope it is a harbinger of things to come especially on defense. The Panthers formula outside of a few years with Cam is to have a great defense and an opportunistic offense who makes the most of short fields and minimizes turnovers. I would like to get back to that.
  4. Nice false narrative. After dismantling the Vikings and scoring 20 against Tampa they were being crowned contenders and would crush us. Announcers seemed almost upset that Atlanta got crushed rather than giving us any praise
  5. We start off with usually one or two primary reads and a third read which is your checkdown on most passing plays. But we do send a back in the flats as a check down or primary route when the defense doesn't send someone to cover. Or like yesterday we audiblized to it to slow down the blitz. All teams run similar plays. It is a copycat league. But you run plays consistent with the talent on your team. That has held us back somewhat.
  6. Many schemes where you have 4 receiver sets for example there will be an unblocked rusher by design. So it is inherent you get the ball out quickly. Plus the scheme we run is predicated on timing and throwing to spots not holding the ball looking for a wide open guy. Something Bryce had to learn and is still learning. So yeah Canales preaches getting the ball out and having good play action based on a good run game to make it easier for Bryce to succeed. We could use both Waddell and Hill here too.
  7. I was here the past two weeks while you dominated every thread with constant complaining. I decided I wasn't going to try even posting with all that negative crap. All of you would have found great amusement in trying to attack anyone with a more reasoned positive approach. So I waited until now to come here to celebrate a win. Not to champion Bryce. It was only after you and others make negative comments despite the huge win that I commented. I am a Panther fan not a Bryce fan or Bruce hater. I will support him as long as he is a Panther. After that he is largely dead to me. But again won't go back and forth. I have nothing to defend and just going to enjoy the win.
  8. Delhomme did the same thing. There have been many game managers who take their team to the playoffs. Some have even won a superbowl.
  9. Missed a great game. Watching surly pissed off Falcon fans parade out of the stadium after talking so much crap coming in was delightful. What a wonderful beat down. Who knows how things go down the road but yesterday was one for the ages.
  10. We really miss Thielen more than we want to admit. Renfro is no Theilen who made some amazing catches which really bailed Bryce out at times. I hated to see him go back to the Vikings although I completely understand why we did.
  11. Josh is like any quarterback in the league. He takes what the defense gives him. Just like Bryce. The difference is Josh is better running and throwing on the run. His big plays are often not scripted and a result of a good running game something we are still working on. Buffalo has better personnel than us across the board. Makes it much easier to win. And about that false narrative about Bryce can't handle pressure. He did a great job Sunday against a heavy run and pass blitz. Which is why the Vikings got crushed and we crushed the Dirty Birds. Clearly the narrative of he can't throw downfield is being championed by those who see but don't really understand football. Otherwise you would see all the audibles Bryce called as he stepped up to the line and saw the heavy blitz. Receivers broke off routes and he checked down many times as he should have. Stop looking for things to complain about and enjoy the win. There may not be too many.
  12. In 2 seconds how many can get deep? That how much time he had if you are paying attention.
  13. You notice is it always the same people throwing shade. I didn't want Bryce when we drafted him but I am a Panthers fan first so I will support the team and its players even if they aren't my favorite. And this negativity with a justification of not accepting mediocrity is a load of crap. No one likes losing and not contending. No one celebrates 9th place. But it isn't like their bitching will change anything so why the endless complaints that most of us don't want to hear. Trust me we all get they don't like Bryce. But until he is gone he is what we have for better or worse. So I say root for his success and keep their crap to themselves. I don't know about you but it is only week 3 and getting old already. Sorry to hijack your post. Rant off.....
  14. Actually teams are seeing that TMac is the only receiver who is a threat downfield at least so far and they are shifting coverage to him so it is true he was getting more double coverage . We don't have enough true downfield receivers who can stretch the defense. Legette has been invisible so far.
  15. Did you watch other games yesterday. I didn't see the chart for Mahomes for example but he played small ball most of the day outside of a few tosses down the field on 50-50 balls his receivers made him look good. Truth is that a smart quarterback takes what the defense gives them and that is what we did. Once we had a lead it was about ball control and just methodically going down the field. It is crazy you win by 30 points and you still have haters trying to diminish what we did and complain. Honestly I think keeping their negative agenda seems more important than the team winning and playing well.
  16. What happened to Atlanta today is what happened to us the past 2 weeks. The home team won. This is the first week our mistakes like a botched punt return haven't hurt us big time. The team that wins the turnover battle and makes the fewest mistakes usually wins. That is not a cautionary tale so much as a formula for success.
  17. You will always be a doubters. That is your thing.
  18. As you said, football is a team sport and it takes a team to win. As a team we played better than them so we got a W. I love the defense finally showed up and meant we didn't have to have a big offensive output to win like last year. It takes pressure off Bryce which helps tremendously in reducing him trying to be superman and make a play which turns into a fumble or pick. Going to 5 defensive linemen rushing the quarterback made a big difference I thought. Saw more man coverage as well.
  19. First home game of the year and first win. If we can stay a tough out at home and steal one or two on the road we could be competitive. But the defense we saw today needs to be an every week staple.
  20. That was a great game too..
  21. You let the loss last week mean too much. At the end of last year Bryce was money under pressure and led several comebacks which the defense couldn't hold. Before the last drive he led 3 touchdown drives. You know who else couldn't score to win late last week but everyone loves him? Hint- he plays for Houston
  22. Keep wearing those Blue Peppers jersey. The defense looked good. Rushing 5 on defense added more pressure finally.
  23. Last time we won by thirty points was in 2014 against the dirty birds. Last time our defense was so dominant was with Wilkes against Detroit.
  24. How do you think a defense which gave up 200 yards on the ground and 138 of those by halftime is doing better than the offense. It was over 6 yards a carry for Jacksonville even when we knew they were going to run. Both were dreadful. We were on pace to give up almost 500 yards which got reduced to 378 when Jacksonville focused on running out the clock instead of scoring more points. Do you know how many 3 and outs we caused all game. I drive at the beginning of the second half. Pitiful. Our offense had two 3 and outs which is not that unusual but surely nothing to write home about. No the defense is starting out exactly where it ended last year- historically bad.
  25. That is why you have to have a good running game to take advantage of a light box.
