PFT questions Brady's place among the top quarterbacks

I'm out of the house right now but when I get back I'll find some film breakdown for you.

This thread has veered toward Manning, but the only reason I brought him up was the idea of currently having him in the top 5, but not Brady. I am not trying to say that Peyton does not belong in the top 5. I think sometimes people unfortunately let their disdain for a player blind them.

I also want to add that Brady has always been overrated. His team gets away with a lot of holding up front, and don't dare hit the crybaby, or he will cry and get you flagged for roughing the passer. His coach is a proven cheater, but yet his coach is a great Coach. The system and help from cheating made Brady. Go take a look, Matt Cassel put up very Brady like numbers in the year Brady was injured. Then look what he has NOT done since leaving New England, and that is what Brady would give you elsewhere

Me currently living in Boston, I probably have the most hatred of Brady of anyone on this forum. That being said, Brady is 100% a top 4 probably top 3 QB along with Rodgers/Manning and some could argue Brees ahead of him. But having watched Patriots games and especially their playoff games, Brady missed passes that 5 years ago he would've made in his sleep. Peyton this year showed that he hasn't regressed at all from his prime, and all I'm saying is that Brady has started to get a little worse. To say that he is washed up is absurd, but like I said he is definitely losing some of his touch.

Yeah man, he's not washed up. Im not sure why writers are so quick to want to write this kind of article up but it has been pretty seldom with regards to Brady. I will say though, other quarterbacks his age tend to be playing to their caliber. I cant agree with the top 3QB stuff unless I was to see him produce without the "benefits" he's had so far. How can people thrash Peyton and be so forgiving of Tommy. Peyton is 4 years older too right? Brees is older as well. . AND smaller. Brees should be less durable than Brady and in fact has had surgeries that put much more at risk of losing his game than him. Manning had neck surgery for the love of God, WOW. Even Favre (at 41? 42?) couldve played a couple more years with minor issues to his arm.

Perhaps we should take a look back at those games 5 years ago and assess whether not it was Brady's arm was working the magic or simply a very well designed offense. An offense genius in taking advantage of their skills position players' talents and setting up defenses with a perfect mix of pass/run. An offense with BIG ambition to win, and a "if you aint cheatin you aint tryin" attitude.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
