Claim your team(s) for the Huddle Mock Draft

Well it's doubtful it gets done all in one day... the idea is to start it early and give each person a max of two hours to make their pick before they are skipped over.

All it takes is one minute to get on the The Huddle, see who has been picked and then make a selection.

The reason I said two hours was to allow someone who is in a meeting or something time to make their pick.

Not a bad idea.

Perhaps we start sometime this weekend?

Give it til Friday at midnight to claim the teams. If the teams aren't claimed, give them to those who want multiple picks. Start the draft 12:01am Friday (or whenever all the teams get claimed if that happens first) and run it til Thursday an hour before the draft starts. Also, give the pickers a reasonable window to make the picks (especially if we are shooting for 2 rounds here.) About 180 hours before the draft and 60 picks gives us 3 hours per pick. That work for everybody?

Yeah we could probably knock most of out it out this weekend.

The only reason I made the above suggestion was because that's how myself and another huddler had to run a mock NFL offseason due to people leaving during the draft.

But with only two rounds we really shouldn't have to worry about that.

I'm gonna assign unclaimed teams to those who've requested around 8:00 PM tomorrow. I'll make a thread for the actual draft sometime tomorrow and the time might start in the afternoon on Friday instead. It would unfair for people's timeframe to pick to run in the middle of the night.

It's going to be hard to fill up those last three teams because realistically unless you're Detroit; you're looking at one pick.

At least Detroit has a high enough pick where they could trade down for two seconds (i.e. a trade with Denver or Minnesota).

Actually whoever takes Washington still has a chance get two picks if the person that has the Spurs would agree to a trade.

Whoever picks Indiana though is just going to be stuck with one pick.

Hopefully some people from main board will do us a solid and just take a team for the sake of getting this done.

And if those three teams go unclaimed, Dorian and SuperJ should receive two of the teams because those two guys only have one pick and it's in the latter part of the first round.

At least the guys with a singular pick at the beginning of the first round can still trade down and get at least two solid picks or select a very good player.

Several guys with single picks in another page said they'd pick for them. But you're right, no one will likely pick for just them

I'll give people till tomorrow at noon to claim them and if no one does I'll give them to those people. That way we can go ahead and start making sure everybody understand what we are doing.

    • Right. But you do understand that there is no such thing as not signing free agents, right? That's what I mean. So make some good free agency moves and do well in the draft. That's step one. If you can't accomplish that, then this will just keep getting worse.
    • Sweet jebus this is idiotic Yes, overall team success in this league, you need a good QB, but beyond just that painfully obvious fact, let's get into the rest of the stupid in there......... First things first, you say.. "if we need a good QB for him to have success, then why are you drafting that player with the #1 pick" Show me one time I've ever said we would need a good QB for T-Mac himself to have success... you can't, because I never have.  I think you're referring to the "he's bad enough that we then have a Top 5 pick to target a QB" part of my post, which is very clearly talking about said QB, not T-Mac.  The other way to interpret that is just overall team success, which again, wouldn't be anything about T-Mac or his ability to impact the offense or overall team wins and losses. I'm quite sure I could do this with a number of teams over the years, but I don't want to spend the time to do multiple, so I'll keep it to just the 2023 Vikings right now since you wanted to use Jefferson as your example....... The Vikings went 3-6 after Cousins went down last year.  And two of those wins came before Jefferson even came back from his own injury, they were 1-4 in the final 5 weeks after Jefferson came back. In those 5 games, Jefferson had 31 catches, 503 yards, and 2 TDs Having the WR you specifically called out didn't help them go better than 1-4 with a bad QB, even though he still put up a great stat line for that time period either.  It also didn't make that QB good enough to where they then went out and brought in TWO new QB's this year to replace Doubs and Mullens who started down the stretch for them last year. And that's with 4th year Jefferson, not a rookie that T-Mac would be If you expect a WR getting drafted #1 overall to be the player to turn a franchise as bad as we are around in 1 season, make whatever QB we're able to put in there be successful, and lead us to a solid season, then you are literally insane. We are AWFUL, we have a few young guys who could turn into great players, but we are so far from being a good team, that there isn't any player we could draft next year that is going to change that in 2025.
