Trade for Morgan Moses?

Again, in regard to the future, having a good player buried on the depth chart isn't necessarily a bad thing. In hindsight, if Gaffney hadn't gotten injured, he might be starting right now.

I wouldn't have minded on taking a flyer on a late round OT, though. I agree with you there, if for no other reason, to let Bell and Chandler know that they could be replaced any day.

your bottom statement is pretty much what i was getting at everything else I agree with to this point

I'm not making excuses for the front office, I would have loved to seen a tackle took somewhere in the draft.  I'm just trying to point out some of the issues with drafting a tackle, especially for a team that has a lot of holes to fill.  Just because we draft one that doesn't mean the line will improve.

I know alot of people around here (especially now with hindsight) wish we would have took Hurst instead of Gaffney but I don't think that was as clear cut as some would have you to believe.  The fact is once you get into the later rounds the chance of landing a starter are actually really low.  People around here love to name the few that do make it but they often leave out the majority that don't.

There are starters drafted in every round and even starters in UDFA.

Yes it aint easy to always find them, but that is what the scouting offices and GM's are getting paid to do.

Hurst over Gaffney was a no brainer assuming Hurst checks out medically.

I wanted us to draft Hurst also but to call 11% a no brainer is a bit of a reach.

Weeks ago rumors were that the Skins were trying to get something for him, and if not, releasing him. May have just been rumors, but wouldn't doubt it. His name was actually THE most prominent name in mock drafts for our FIRST round pick. OMG. Moron Marc James formerly of WFNZ lambasted GMan all over Carolina airwaves after the draft for not taking this guy. Scary.

That's why the media geeks,as well us fans need to leave the draft process to the GM,scouts and coaches.

It is only 11% drafting blind. If you are a superior talent evaluator than chances are higher than that.

At the end of the day, the bottom line is there are starters to be had in every round. No one cares about excuses.

My comment for the FO would be to step their scouting and evaluating game up and find those diamonds in the rough.

So the league must be blind.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
