Gruden will be in the broadcast booth right?

I have never heard anything but praise come out of Gruden's mouth about our team. It may have all been politically correct/motivated, but I don't think so.

To this very day he still calls Steve Smith the scariest player he has ever met. He refers to him as Freddie Kruger.

I think he is above that "K. Johnson envy/hate/jealous mentality". And yes....he will be leaps and bounds wayyyyyyyyyyy better than Cornhole will ever dream to be.

There was also speculation that Gruden would be the next coach at UT. Are you telling me that speculation is what made his team fall apart? That's weak.

Also, I live in Knoxville, and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that nobody knew Monte was coming to Tennessee until after the Bucs' season was finished. Folks around here were hoping for Monte, but Lane was not letting anything be known about his staff until it was all set in stone.

Posted January 2nd. Yasinskas and everyone else speculated about Monte, but again, it was not officially announced until January 2nd.

I've heard rumors that Monte told the team early, but haven't seen anything official on that.

Either way, that's a lame excuse for why a pro team would quit playing. I'm sure he didn't stop trying with the team, and I'm sure Gruden didn't quit trying to win just because he thought he could lose his defensive coordinator.

I think he had genuine respect for some guys but I always cringed a bit at how over the top he sounded with some of it. Maye it was also the look on his face, almost like he was in pain.:D

I love Monte Kiffin. Sincerely. Always have. I don't think there's an ounce of BS in the guy. I was very happy he left TB. I also ..umm...let me try to be nice here...don't see how he could possibly be Lane's dad. Kind of like the same feeling I have about the Moras.

RT, I guess we watch the nfl through different colored glasses. To me (and the stats), Tampa's D fell off dramatically last year, starting with our game on Dec 8. I agree with you that it's lame for a pro team to react that way, but it doesn't change the fact that a drop off in production happened in conjunction with the speculation. Hell, I still haven't figured out why the our D fell off last year. With the lack of information available, speculation is all that's left. In any event, hijack over. I'm done with discussing Kiffens, good luck with 'em (srsly, no sarcasm).

To me, Gruden is the best thing that could have happened to the MNF booth. I liked the way he ribbed Jaws about being jealous of sales of his #7 Iggles jersey last week. Overall, I think Gruden will go out of his way to give our team respect.

    • Don't take this personal, but anyone who watches pregame or game broadcast on any of the four major networks & can't point out a dozen "experts" that Luke would do a better job than, is just not paying attention. IMO
    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
