Auburn's Sammie Coates declares for the draft

Seems like a speedier, less tall version of KB13.  Love everything about his game except his hands.  Not sure if it's a huge enough issue to pass on his talent, but with Benjamin, it would be interesting to have your WR1 and WR2 with focus issues & drops.  If this flaw is coachable and can eventually be negated, then roll with Coates.  Everytime I've seen him play, he has that "wow" factor that can rip a defense apart.

I agree with you.  Seems like Coates is definitely a "wow" guy.  Would like to have his speed on the outside and hopefully his hands will improve.

Perspective from an Auburn fan (Also Panthers fan):

Coates right now I think is a one trick pony. That is the deep ball. Just watch the Bama game and you can see what to get excited about. You will also see Coates drop an easy TD on a comeback route. Perfect throw and he drops it. Big momentium killer and we kick a FG. Sammie is the nicest guy you can ever meet and will not lack work ethic. He graduated from Auburn in 3.5 years. That meant a lot to him. I would not touch him in the first round. Late in the 2nd or early 3rd is where I would take him. He just drops way too many balls. He dropped more balls than the rest our recievers combined probably. If Coates had Duke's hands he would be the best WR in the country. I would much rather have Duke, but he is staying at Auburn another year which is good. If he can learn to catch the easy ones he could be a very good. He makes catches in double coverage then he will drop an easy one. It frustrated the hell out of me.
