Jaelen Strong breakdown by Stephen White

Recommended Posts

Perriman is a superior prospect to Strong in pretty much every way except for hands. Perriman has his drops just like KB, while Strong might have the best hands in the draft (people think the same about Hardy and others too). Watch their highlights, and don't be surprised to find you think Perriman looks a whole lot better.

That's what comes first.

I don't care about all this #1 or #2 crap.  I just want starting caliber WRs.

Who was the Seahawks' #1 WR last year?  Who was the Patriots #1 WR last year?  Neither of those teams had a true #1 and they both made the Super Bowl.

I swear some of y'all don't understand how uncommon it is for a rookie WR to have a 1000 yard season.  We had one do it last year yet some of y'all act like he's a #2 at best.  WTF do y'all want???

I think Perriman brings more of what this offense is missing: big explosive play ability and yards after the catch. Perriman gets over the top of defenses effortlessly and could really excel with Cam's deep ball and arm strength.

When I watched the 10 or so full game cut-ups of Perriman and the UCF offense, he was good for what seemed one big play and/or touchdown a game. He progressed every year. He cleaned up his drops towards the end of his college career. With Ricky's tutelage I think he could be a special player and give us something we have never had at the receiver position.

Strong just doesn't seem to offer a whole lot more than what Kelvin brings to the table outside of more consistent hands. They remind me of one another when I watch them play. I just think this offense needs something it doesn't already have: an explosive vertical threat that can out-jump and out-run an offense. Despite his impressive combine numbers, Strong rarely displayed those athletic traits in his games that I have watched. Many NFL games these days are decided by one big play that shifts momentum and alters the scoreboard. Perriman is a big play threat every time the ball is thrown his way or the ball is in his hands.

They are my top two targets at 25, but if both are there I want Perriman. I would be happy with either because we are past-due putting real talent and surrounding Cam with great receivers. Giving Cam all the tools he needs to succeed should be this teams number one priority.

1. Ginn and Philly both have the speed to take the top off the defense and make explosive plays

2. Everyone talks about Proehl fixing the hands issue, but it hasn't worked with Kelvin so far. He cost the team a few TD's last year.

3. Games are often decided by a couple big plays. So do you really want the outcome of those plays to be decided by a player with questionable hands?

4. What happens when the offense is struggling, which it will at times, then Cam throws a couple perfectly placed balls, and his receivers drop them. It's going to kill Cams confidence not just for that game but for the future.

If we pick Perriman I'll support it, but honestly I'd take a tough player with sure hands over a freak athlete every time.

Yep, he really liked KB.  Basically said that he was a little bit slower version of Calvin Johnson and that a lot of teams would end up regretting passing on him.

With that said, he also really didn't like Kony Ealy.  Said he didn't get the hype at all.  Definitely not a 1st rounder and maybe not even a 2nd.  His point was that there was nothing special about him.  Not exceptional athletically and unpolished in his pass rushing moves.

much more than alittle bit slower than CJ. CJ could jump out of the gym

    • So you can explain how he was top 10....but won't.  We need to look it up ourselves?  I googled it.  Can't find the argument based on stats and facts.
    • Well, I think Nike has it all down to a sweet mathematical science to max revenue of what they average person will buy in terms of price....and what the average person will do with a dirty jersey.   Then they construct them accordingly.   and yeah, it's not about being tackled in them but I'm sure Nike knows exactly how each tier will react to washings...and then sunlight, heat, fading and on and on.    Just asking google about it there are tons of tiktoks, you tubes, reddit posts, etc with folks complaining about what a simple wash can do to a new one.    Your washing machine gets cooler tech....so you pay more now and it doesn't last as long .  My son's football cleats that help max speed got a hole in them before they even made it into the season this past year.     Now our football jersey's are lightweight with new mesh because it's totally better.....the end game is always because the big corporations have found the synergy between new and improved and not lasting as long.  That's my take.  I think everything is made to wear out sooner under the guise of but it's better today.
