Why the Panthers Likely Won’t Have Comp Picks in 2016

I referred to the "or better" situation in my earlier post. It is possible for a team to receive a compensatory pick if the number of players gained and lost is the same but the lost players have a higher value. From what I understand those picks are at the end of the list and sometimes aren't awarded because they are not part of the top 32. An example of this happened last year to Oakland.

Is it possible in theory for a team to have a net gain in the number of free agents signed but a net loss in "value" and therefore receive a compensatory pick? I don't think so but I could be wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Looking back a few years I can't find a team that was awarded picks under that situation. The few "or better" situations that I did find were all of the equal number of players lost/gained variety.

Like I said earlier I could easily be wrong about this, but I'm not holding out hope that we get a pick for Hardy if our players lost/gained stays the same as it is now.

You've actually gone over the FA losses and gains for every team that's gotten comp picks over the past few years? That's impressive. If that's the case I'll concede you're likely right. Either way, I don't hold out hope for comp picks any year, much less one where the most significant loss signed a one year deal.
