On the lighter side..Gettlemanisms

After the normal 15 seconds of clearing his throat, Gman let loose a few baseball, basketball and fighting references in his interview with Brandt/Marvez last night:

On taking over the GM with the team being $16 million over the cap...  It's like starting with an 0-2 count.

On getting the cap under control... We had to cut THAT wide receiver..... Would not say Smith's name

On keeping the cap under control... You've got to really watch FAs.  They can be money mercenaries, interested more in themselves than the team.  There's a reason they're FAs.

On Oher....  We looked at every play of his 13 and 14 season.  Ozzie has a history of allowing guys to graduate.  He likes

the comp picks.  Tenn was just not a fit along with an injury.  There are people who play professional football and there are people who are professional football players.  Oher is a professional football player.

On  Kahil...  Our line is built around him.  You can't have a ham and egger in the pivot.

On Trai.... He's 22 going on 29.  He's going to have a breakout year.

So far it seems G'man has been correct on this.  Oher seems like a pretty significant upgrade to Bell and Oline is now among the least of my worries about the team.

What on earth does this mean???  Translation please....

Awesome.  Let's hope so.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
