Headed For Greatness?

Recommended Posts

Just a random bye week thread, but this team could very well be headed towards greatness within the next couple of years.

Think about, say, 3 years down the line. These guys will all likely be in their primes, or at least close to their primes, assuming we can keep the vast majority of them for a couple more years.

  • Cam
  • Luke
  • Kelvin
  • J-No - Hopefully?
  • Bene
  • KK/Star
  • Shaq
  • Trai Turner
  • Andrew Norwell
  • Mike Remmers
  • Philly
  • Tre Boston
  • Brad Nortman (Lol.)

And then hopefully we can keep most of these guys around for the next few years as experienced vets/mentors/locker room guys.

  • Greg Olsen
  • Thomas Davis - Hopefully he can keep playing for another few years.
  • Ryan Kalil
  • Graham Gano?
  • JJ Jansen for HOF Class of 2025

Additionally, at least a handful of these young, unproven guys are bound to pan out and prove themselves soon enough.

  • Funchess
  • CAP/Whegher/Fozzy - Surely one will pan out?
  • Ealy
  • Delaire
  • Mayo
  • Marlowe
  • Daryl Williams

If we can keep a good amount of the guys from these lists together for the next 3-5 years, not to mention our future draft choices and potential free agent pickups, we can be serious Super Bowl contenders year in and year out for at least the next half decade. All we need is good health and some improvement in the realm of offensive play calling.

Our future is bright, my friends. We might have a Lombardi or two on our shelf by 2020.

Good thing is that Norman is the only be free agent we have this upcoming offseason. Other than him it's just a handful of role players and backups, nobody that would be too expensive or a huge loss.

Roman Harper

Mike Tolbert

josh Norman

Peanut Tillman

Mike Remmers

Ryan Delaire

Kyle Love

Brenton Bersin

Amini Silatolu

I know alot of these guys are back ups. but these are guys the coaching staff either likes, or play large roles for this team. its more than just one person. I also realize that most of these guys arent going to command huge paydays. JNo should be our sole focus this coming offseason. Remmers, Tillman, and Tolbert should be close runners up. I dont mind keeping Harper around, if they use him correctly, which they finally seem to be. Delaire flashed on sunday, but i need to see a full season of work from him before i say we should pay the man. Silatolu isnt a bad backup, but should never again be expected to start. Kyle Love has been a surprise this season so far. We should find a way to retain him, but it shouldnt take much money

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
