Random Ramblings and Stats for Hypeness..

Just a few things I've gathered over the last 24 hours that should provide plenty of fap-worthy happiness.

Listening to Mike and Mike this morning, a couple of things...  Cris Carter gave an incredible quote.

When asked about Cam, he said, "you can't take picture of greatness, but you know what it looks like when you see it.  And Cam does it differently, but he is a bad boy."

Heard elsewhere that our 4 drives each spanning 80 yards for a TD, apparently had not been done for the last 15 seasons in Seattle.  Incredible.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it 12th man.   You've just been Panthered.

Also on ESPN, I believe it was Sportscenter, they said Cam is behind only HALL OF FAMER Steve Young in career games with both a rushing and passing TD.  IIRC, he is behind him by only 4 of those games, which obviously he will shatter.  They went on to say how a lot of other QBs can run, but not like Cam and none of the other QBs who can run have his size.  Several different talking heads across Sportscenter and Mike and Mike talked about how he is among the best and yet, isn't talked about nearly enough. Was mentioned among the elite now multiple times.

Then on NFLN, they said since 2010 (i think), Cam is among the league leaders in 4th qtr comebacks. IIRC, he is second, only to Matt Ryan, who has 3 more in that span.

Sorry for the lack of links, as this was all from live shows I was watching, but I figured it was worth sharing.

Forgot to include this in the OP, but also, longtime Panther-hater Rodney Harrison (I think he's still mad because we broke his arm in the Superbowl they cheated us out of) said we are for real and finally said the we are among the best teams in football.   If I'm not mistaken, he said that was his biggest takeaway from Sunday.  This following last week when he said we were the worst of the undefeated and said "I know they're gonna a say I'm a hater but..." and then said we would be exposed.

Thanks for sharing.  I've included some of these in the Stats & Analysis thread as they've been sent out on Twitter, etc.

Here's where you can see info on the record re: games in which Cam has had both a passing & rushing TD

Cam looks to be on pace to break Steve Young's record this season, but Young took 146 games to earn his record.  Cam is within 4 games of breaking it after only 67 games.

Thanks KB!   The number of games was definitely a huge part I left out.   We are so lucky to have Cam...  Awesome time for us as a franchise and fanbase!

    • Poster board? Were you trying to use the term poster child?
    • I mean, you're acting like we don't see the tippy-toe bunny hops, jump throws more than normal (with both feet dangling in the air every which a way), and off-platform but off-balance throws that arrive short or sail high. Could that be bad mechanics due to being short? Could a seeming propensity to bail the pocket towards the sidelines early as opposed to sitting in the pocket tall and strong, surveying his reads, be an attempt at trying to see an open throwing lane? I'm not saying that what you're saying isn't a contributing factor to what has been an underwhelming display of executing the QB position, but this is year three, and if the lightbulb hasn't switched on by now---if you haven't figured out that guys are faster, stronger and generally more athletic, then what's it going to take? It's hard to forget that "mental processing" was supposed to be Bryce Young's superpower. Are you telling me that he can't nail down such an easy concept as, "I can't get away with the things I did in college at the pro level," is that right? If he can't get past that, then that surely limits his ability to successfully execute all the other stuff.  Look, I'm not trying to be flippant. I acknowledge that playing pro football is more complex than a lot of fans realize, but all we can do, as fans, is observe. One of my favorite things to do is just look at the greater picture and think what part human nature is playing in the many decisions that are being made or have to be made. You're absolutely correct that fans don't know exactly what's going on, but that is by design, and in many ways it's just the nature of the beast. Some things we can't know. That being said, the professionals screw the hell up all the time. The professionals disagree all the time. These disagreements can be within the same franchise or from franchise to franchise. And sometimes these decisions are all over the place, so excuse me if I ain't exactly buying the I-know-more-than-thee sentiment and that that means that professionals always make better decisions than fans would about certain players. Some of this stuff is simply luck or a crapshoot.
