Definition of Browns gonna Brown

After seeing how two Browns players got arrested on Christmas morning, I did some thinking. The Browns suck so bad and have for so long, what would it take to completely blow up the team and start from fresh. Good and the bad, throw them all out onto the street, pay what's in their contracts and just take the dead money hit.

After some calculating on one of the sites that lists each team's contract/cap situations, I came to the conclusion that the Browns organization would be on the hook for right around $75 million and next year's salary cap is scheduled to be right around $150 million.

Could you scrap the entire front office, the coaching staff, the trainers and all of the players and just start over? Lay out contracts for $1 million to each person who makes the team and just sweep up every hanger on or guy who never got a chance and just start rebuilding. Get a good coach and GM and give them a solid, ironclad 5 year contract to rebuild a team. Make a commitment to the fans and say, "We're going to do this and we're going to do it right."

Yeah, the dead money and cap hits would pay out over the next two or three years, but every year they'd dig themselves out of the hole a bit more. Every year they would be finding diamonds in the rough, plus work on picking up quality, character players in the drafts. And every year, they'd be giving the folks of Cleveland nothing worse than they've already been getting.

I was in Cleveland this summer for a weekend. You know what? Nice place. Good, hard working folks. Great looking city with lots of stuff to do and a stadium that is really nice and situated right on the waterfront. Heck, send them Marty Hurney and Dom Capers... those guys could point them in the right direction.

    • We have without question one of the worst QB rooms in the league and your key concern is people having the audacity to be talking about it lol.
    • I saw this list crossing the screen waiting for any Panther.  Chubba, JC Horn and Hunt.  It was a crime to see so many that were not as good as these three.  ESPN is garbage anyhow.
    • Bingo!  We are on the same page.  Our scouting department was average under Hurney, but at least we hit hit it out of the park with our first rounders.  Our scouting department under Tepper's reign with his revolving doors of HCs and GMs has sucked because the scouts largely stay in place.  One or two may change every few years, but the core philosophy stays in place and I believe that to be heavily RAS influenced.    Looking the part of a football player (physical/athletic measurables) vastly outweighs putting on the tape and deep diving into his stats with our scouting department. Until we change that mindset, this team is doomed. Again, how many of us Huddlers (none of us are professional scouts) wanted McConkey over Legette? Yet, we went with XL.  Why?  RAS score, pure and simple.  If you put on the tape and look at the numbers without taking RAS into account, McConkey was the clear choice.
