Steve Smith takes some blame....

WR Steve Smith is a dangerous player when he has the football in his hands. The problem Sunday was getting it there. Smith was the intended receiver 13 times, according to NFL statistics, but finished with just three receptions for 21 yards in the 38-10 loss to Philadelphia. Three of QB Jake Delhomme's passes to Smith were intercepted by Eagles cornerbacks -- two by Sheldon Brown and the other by Asante Samuel. After the game, Smith refused to let his buddy go down in flames alone. When asked if it's difficult to support Delhomme after his two most recent outings, Smith replied, "The Arizona game was disappointing. The Eagles game was very disappointing for everybody. I can't speak for the defense but for the offense and I'm just blaming myself because there was three times where I just really lost focus. At times like that, we really got to focus in so I failed at that. Everybody has something that they have to focus on." Smith said he still trusts Delhomme can do the job. "Yeah, I do," said Smith. "I personally trust him. Our relationship goes beyond the field. ... What he needs more than teammates is real friendship right now."

Hmm I wonder whose fault and responsibility that is.........A fox is sly...but a wolfe is more fierce and cares about the pack.
their own fault.

each player that failed to play at their best or give their best performance has only their self to blame.

the team got rattled. jake and the oline got overwhelmed and the coaches couldn't compensate for what the eagles were bringing.

they know now that this year isn't going to be as easy as last year. they know what teams are going to be looking for and what opponents are going to try and do to stop them. they know that the cardinals gave the rest of the league the blueprint of how to beat the panthers and the eagles showed that it works.

now is when they make changes....or at least when they are supposed to.

i don't expect the changes to come quickly but i don't expect the team to look as bad as they did last week.

Doesn't even sound reassuring at all, and even alludes to the fact that others HAVE lost confidence in Jake.

I don't think our players are like this, but it has happened where an O Line won't block for certain players.(RB or QB)

Hopefully it was just a payback session from our O line to Jake for what happened in AZ, and all will be normal this Sunday.(not likely though)

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
