What will it take...for people to shut up?

While I whole heartedly agree that Jake's recent performance is appalling and we need a new direction for the team in the future, Fox has made it clear that he will be starting Delhomme Sunday.

Therefore, I see no point in bashing him as much as people on these forums have. It's not going to make Fox start Moore, it's not going to make us suddenly have enough cap room to sign someone who could start ahead of him, it's not going to get Richardson to axe Fox, it's not going to make the 5 year extension we just signed with Jake disappear, it's just pointless negativity that could hurt the confidence of the team as a whole.

I'm not slurping, nor I'm a being a homer; I'm just being rational. Everyone here has a reason to be mad about last week, and our offense in general, but at what point does all this negativity become detrimental to the team?

Things WON'T change before Sunday, and they're likely not to really change until the off season, based on how this team is run. Richardson is no Al Davis, thank god, so we're not going to turnover the entire coaching and management mid-season, which means (knowing Fox) Jake is here to stay. Unless Jake continues to string together colossal melt-downs, then we're not going to change switch horses mid-stream, it's just not something the coaches or management will do, sorry.

Insulting him and bashing him doesn't help, it's embarrassing that the fans booed him, and the way we can't be supportive of the team. Please shut the hell up about it, until things can actually be influenced. Richardson has given the reins to Fox and Hurney for another season, deal with it, we have no other choice, until the off season and until then let's try and stay supportive as long as we can bear to.

Why is it embarrasing that fans booed at a disappointing performance?

I've never understood why booing = bad fans. Maybe one of you can explain this to me.

I agree though, you play with the team you've got. Jake's our boy. As long as he's in a panthers uniform I'll support him.

Haha, I guess it did sound a little demanding at times.

Just kinda tired of the same useless negative crap that continues to be posted.

Hope some people understand.

well, if it's the sheer number of threads being made making the same point, i agree, we should have one big colossal thread for people to vent, even if it would be up to 1000 replies by now.

Fans are supporters. Booing them is not supporting them, it's actually detrimental to the team. So therefore booing means, as a fan, you do not support the team.

I can deal with shouting after a bad play, groaning as the fourth interception unveils or having a heated discussion with those round you, about how bad the team is. They are spur of the moment things which accurately portray a persons emotions when the team they support, plays badly. Booing on the other hand is a concerted effort to make one or more people feel like crap. It is not an immediate reaction, it is a premeditated attempt to actually make people feel and play worse. Why oh why would you do that to your own team?!

Considering that, how is booing something NOT to be embarressed about?

Oh and REP for the OP, couldn't agree more with your sentiments

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
