Pre-Combine Mock Offseason

Cut/Release:
Charles Johnson - $11m cap savings; not worth restructuring due to poor performance.
Jared Allen - $8m cap savings; too many injuries and inconsistent performances.
Teddy Williams - $900k cap savings; waste of a roster spot.

Resign:
Josh Norman - franchise tag $14m; absolutely cannot let him walk.
Brad Nortman - pay him whatever average punters make.
Kyle Love - great backup.
JJ Jansen - keep him around.
Amini Silatolu - only if he's cheap. not a bad backup.

Free Agency:

new-york-giants-jason-pierre-paul-return

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE - 4 years, $9,500,000mil per season
We could see a huge overhaul at DE. Gettleman loves his DL and I expect us to be players for a top pass-rusher. Gettleman was with the Giants with JPP was draft and should be very familiar with his talents. JPP should have a custom made glove next season and no more club-hand. However, despite the club-hand this season, he was quite disruptive. He would be a great addition and give us a nice tandem with Ealy emerging on the other side.

Brandon Boykin, CB - 2 years, $3,500,000 per season
We need to address the nickel back position. Brandon Boykin is a very underrated player in the league. If he slips out of Pittsburgh we should be all over him. A trio of Norman, Bene and Boykin would be solid beside our LB group. He should be fairly cheap as well. Small guy but big playmaker.

Tyvon Branch, SS - 2 years, $?? maybe 4mil per?
Bring in some competition for Boston. Branch had a solid season with the Chiefs, just didn't get much playing time.

920x920.jpg

Anquan Boldin, WR - 2 years. $3,000,000 per season
KB is returning and Funch is developing into a promising number 2 option. With Cotchery is out the door, the team would use another vet while the young core continues to grow. Boldin would be a perfect fit for this team, both on the field and in the locker room. He gets a chance to win another ring and lead a group of young, talented WRs. And play with Cam.

NFL Draft:

Round 1:
kevin-dodd-ncaa-football-wake-forest-cle

Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson
Grab another young DE to groom. A rotation of JPP, Ealy and Dodd on the outside with Star, KK and Love inside is championship material.

Round 2:
8060408-850x560.jpg

Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma

This should be the last step on the WR overhaul. KB, Funch, Shepard, Brown as the future core; Ginn and Boldin hanging around while they develop. Shepard has potential to be a lethal threat in the slot. Quick and shifty. Big play ability. Chip on his shoulder.

Round 3:

Willie Beavers, OT, Western Michigan

Under the radar type player with loads of potential. He has the size and athleticism to play LT in the league.

Round 4:
kenyan-drake-ncaa-football-chattanooga-a

Kenyon Drake, RB, Alabama

Effective in the run and the pass. Extremely quick but also very patient. Big play ability. Creates mismatches with the opposing LBs. Perfect fit here in Carolina.

Round 5:
glenn-gronkowski-012816.jpg

Glenn Gronkowski, FB, Kansas State
Our new FB. One of the top blockers in college football.

Round 7:
No clue about prospects at this point in the draft.

Would like that offseason.  Only thing I'd change in the draft would be the 3rd round.  Not a big fan of small school OL. I'm kind of like zod on this one where at this position is a spot where you want someone from a big program.  See Norwell and Turner vs Amini and Kug.

Would rather see Vannett.  Massive size and athletic ability. Great blocker and has shown soft hands at the TE spot.  Kid could possibly beat out Dickson who I thought struggled this postseason

    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
    • I think there's a ton of potential in that WR room. But they really are unproven right now. Hopefully they live up to the hype.
    • My unbelievable pile is touching the moon now-a-days. Bill is ultra control freak if there was ever one in the NFL, he's the guy. He stayed off SM and hate hate hated the media..........(wow bill what did you do in 2024??!?!?!).  So this guy, 100% control freak, just gave away all his SM to a 24 year old?? He doesn't understand SM at all... This is the same level as 8 time SB winner coming to coach UNC, after all this NIL BS that drove out his other control freak coaching friends.  This time line is insane.
