Matt Moore will never be a star quarterback. Ever.

It's hard to say that, he has some ability.

But you don't choose him over a coach that's done a lot more than him.

And, that coach thinking that this guy isn't ready yet and that isn't promised anything, shouldn't be a big downfall.

If the team deviates away from Delhomme, it's because he made too many mistakes. No idea why people think going to someone who's just as mistake prone is the right step on the second game of the season.

"if they don't play Moore, Fox will be gone" sounds close enough.

Moore has a lot of talent. He couldn't freaking beat out McCown and he's not efficient. It's great he's got arm and gets the ball downfield, but the changeup this team needs has veteran experience and can be efficient. I can completely see this team wanting a conservative guy instead of a younger Delhomme to relieve Delhomme. That's not something you fire a guy over.

No, you fire the guy for having no Plan B if the very shaky and expensive Plan B fails. QB is the most important position on the field - sure the guy doesn't have to be a superstar for your team to win, but it helps if he can get the ball into the hands of your playmakers rather than the other teams.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
