You know what we were 12-4 last season; 2-0 at the beginning of the season. Our defense faltered in the latter half of the season. But we still competed. The defense I see on the field now is LIFELESS. The secondary(which has always sucked in the Fox era) is still "out to lunch." WHY can't we fix the secondary? We have good players, but our scheme is bad. And Meeks was supposedly to change this and make it better. "Oh, Meeks has freed us up to be more athletic and free to make plays" is what was said by a lot of defensive players since his arrival. WHERE IS THIS HAPPENING IN THE DEFENSE? And you want to blame John Fox? This defense looks awful compared to the 2008 team.

Same poo different toilet friend :(

like others have mentioned trgo took a demotion just to get the hell out of here.take that for what it's worth

Jake Delhomme had 4 interceptions last week. Jay Cutler had 4 interceptions last week. Who gets poo on? Delhomme. Cutler is supposed to be the new messiah in Chicago. But NO ONE covers that poo, they BLOW UP the Delhomme game. Its easy for the media to pick on Delhomme(bad NFC playoff game, bad season opener). How about picking on Cutler(whiny NON-LEADER, who bitches his way out of a franchise because he thinks he is sooo awesome). .

I don't think that at all. The head coach has his philosphy, but the coordinators(defense and offense) put into motion THEIR scheme. And if they don't, they should not be working for an NFL team. Why Trgovac took a job in lower Canada is still a mystery. But u don't know, neither do I. Speculation is fun!!! If Fox wasn't respected, he would not have lasted this long.

LOL!! Cutler just got to that team and has to learn their playbook and players, how long has Delhomme been in our offense (hell, even the other teams know offense and defense like the back of their hand). Not to mention how long Delhomme has just in the league longer than Cutler. I do agree Cutler is a whinny bitch and Delhomme does have ALOT of heart. But, heart isn't doing it anymore, good decision making would go much further at this point...

Meeks is the same guy that was w/ the Colts when they won a Super Bowl, but he was ripped during the reg. season. He gave up so many points. Good thing Manning and friends could put up points to counter-act the defencincy in his defense. He turned it around in his Super Bowl run, but can he do it here, for a whole season.? I doubt it.

Actually, twice in the 1st qtr and the force to Smitty in the 4th qtr. wasn't :( he was just lucky 2 out of 3 of them. Anyway, IMHO the team is limited due to Jake and the fear of turnovers he tends to have. And had he done them this week, it would be very difficult to justify keeping him starter, so the plays had to even be more simplified (to save face). My opinion off of this game hasn't changed, fox and delhomme limit the potential of this team.

We had no room for error and the last turnover did us in. Otherwise an OK performance from the offense. The D did much better with the run. The secondary bent but didn't really break. We didn't get pressure on Ryan like we did last year maybe next game.

Change is abound in the organization and that started with the top. It's a lot easier for someone who hasn't worked with you to can you. The Richardsons have had a lot of faith in and been very loyal to John Fox for many years now. If Foxy doesn't get it done. Cowher may have a new job in 15 weeks or so...

I'll remain the optimist though. 10-6. Teams will get stronger as the year goes on ala Arizona peaking at the right time.

Well, his decision making was prety spot-on today.

Except for the throw-away-pitch pass he attempted in the first qtr. But overall he stayed out of his own way today.....I wish we ran the ball more than 25 times. Being down in a game does not justify reducing the running to this extent, especially when Williams can run further than Jake throws it sometimes.

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
