Rosario

This is a question that I have wondered about ever since game 1 last year. Why don't we better utilize Donte Rosario? Last year at SD the guy was great. He had 9 catches and the game winner, yet I think he ended the year with 16 total grabs. Today he was big down the stretch making 3 catches all in the 4th Q.

Looking at the stats from todays game, we threw to Smith 15 times and Moose 7. The 3rd and 4rth WR were thrown at 1 time each. I know the offense was good today, but we need to use other options. A good TE is huge, we saw that today with Gonzalez. King is not that guy and I know he is a better blocker, but we need to use Rosario more. This guy is no T. Gonzalez but I really believe he could grab 3-4 a game and help stretch the middle of the field.

our TEs had plenty of yardage given who our first two WRs are.

I'll say this, rather the TEs than our backs. They should be fantastic in the passing game and are just average.

At any rate, you've been asking since week 1 last year because he got trampled in that celebration and then hurt his back. Looks healthy now, and I think we'll see more of Rosario receiving than last year.

I agree that our TEs are underutilized in the passing game. Other teams kill us with their TEs, we could use ours to open up to the WRs more. We did throw to ours more today than in games past, and I hope that continues. We have an offense that would allow for good ball control if we threw more 'dinks' to the RBs and short tosses over the middle to the TEs. Jake had a much better game today than the past 2, but he still looks to Smith and Moose way too often. Giving the other defense something more to think about will only help us.

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
