It's become painfully obvious that Steve Smith...

Can you honestly say with a straight face that you don't think Smith is dominant?

What part of today proved that? Larry Fitzgerald is dominant, no one would argue that, but the man didn't even have 40 yards today. Smith had well over 100. You've seen today how much better our offense is when we get the ball in his hands. I think you need to take the rest of the night off.

Ask any defensive back in the league and I bet they'll tell you that Smith is top 5. Ask any casual fan (not even Panthers fan) and they'll all tell you that Smith is top 5, and pound-for-pound one of the best in the game, bar none. Bryant and Fitz are the 2 guys I can think of that people would put ahead of Smith. The rest are debatable. Smith is still Smith. I don't know that there's anyone else I'd want on the team given the choice.

The throw was absolutely in the right place, the only place that smith had a better chance of getting it than the defender. Shallow, and almost out of bounds.

Smith pussied out and waited for the ball to get there.

The DB did what smith should have done and caught the ball at a higher point.

I agree.

Smith, Delhomme, and Moose are seasoned vets now. So is most of the defense.

The younger guys on the team, Stewart, DeAngelo, Beason and some of the younger guys on defense, they are becoming the most reliable players on the team.

Smith and Moose are still receivers that can catch balls and win you games, but the Panthers needed to be grooming a young QB and younger WRs this season, and they're not.

They're OLD in football years, and that's part of the problem with the defense and some of the offense.

Smith a pussy? LMAO. You should have seen him curse out that Falcons player in today's game. That's the total opposite of a pussy.

CAN YOU READ?

He never said that Smith was "A PUSSY", he said Smith "PUSSIED OUT."

There is a difference, you know.

To be "A" pussy is to "ALWAYS" pussy out. To "PUSSY OUT" on one play is to either take the play off or not go after it like you normally do.

Smith and every other player messes up on a play here and there.

Smity was open, Jake threw it too late.

I do have to agree- HOWEVER-- out on that field everything happens at 10 million miles an hour, its easy for us to re-wind the dvr and say; "oh man, he should have thrown it 2 seconds earlier and we would be good"

Jake took the best option he had, and it didnt work out.

It IS HARD TO WIN when your defense gives up a TD every outing (i think it was what, 4 straight today?)

we get our defense sured up and we will be hard to beat.

Our guys have to find their confidence.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
