It's Time To Acknowledge The Elephant In The Room

Little bit of column A, little of column B.

It's similar to Shaq in his prime. He was so much bigger and stronger that he would get abused and it would take extraordinary measures to get a foul called. The NFL is much more physical than the NBA so when these refs do not make calls on obvious (and I would say dirty) penalties it's putting the health of its players in jeopardy.

I think there definitely are some members of the media, in the NFL offices, and even fans who have a negative opinion on Cam because he is black, outspoken, in your face with celebrations. NFL fans are quite conservative; it's why they (and the media/sponsors) love the lunch-pail, blue-collar, spending-an-offseason-in-a-log-cabin type players like Watt.

Btw, I thought this was going to be about our run D lol.

Great post

Agreed. The elephant in the room is how atrocious our D looked last night. We need to clean that up soon. I will give Bradberry a pass for a few weeks, but our front 4 couldn't stop the run at all and they hardly got to Siemian even with multiple blitzes

For me the most telling sign of a good defense is how they handle the run. If you can't stop the run, you're gonna lose a lot of games. I was impressed with Trevor Siemian, but that was still his 1st NFL snap ... cmon man

The QB position is regarded as a more "sacred" position.        Some people have in their minds how the qb should act....and what a qb should say and do.

Football fans..........aren't a concern for me.........the NFL is.                I saw a defender throw a punch at Cam........no flag..nothing.           The OP is correct in his assessment of the refs just not giving a fug,  last night.    Their body language,  their expressions,  were those of a group of individuals that did not give a flying fug about player safety.              That is alarming.            Since even though Cam is big,  the rules are the rules for a reason.    The brain is a sensitive thing,  no matter the size of a player.        If the NFL continues to allow this "new" strategy when it comes to playing against Cam......  he will not last 3 more games.

Devil's advocate here, but I have to point out the power qb runs and

NFL made an article about our argument this morning.

They are very comparable. Size affects how refs view a player. Regardless of sport. The Shaq issue was because refs didn't really know what to do with him. I think Cam is the same way. Big Ben doesn't run effectively like Cam but he is probably the closest comparison. But Cam's effectiveness running the ball and escaping confuses the refs I think.

Either that or it's a conspiracy. I don't know.

So I haven't read the whole thread so if it was already said sorry, but what the funk is up with people saying Cam ducked into the hits and that he "leads with his head" and that that should draw a flag like flopping....which is utter nonsense since he didn't duck into any of the hits...
