No idea on the history part.  I'm still too much of a newbie fan...

Ron seemed like he's still a bit concerned that Butler's ankle isn't fully healed even though he was technically a healthy scratch. Why risk further / long-term injury?  We've all seen that when players are compensating a bit for a nagging injury they are often likely to go down with another injury.

Doubt Ron would send that kind of message to DG. It seems like Ron is pretty frank and I trust that he'd express any such concern openly to DG rather than just sit Butler out of spite, but it is an interesting theory!

I have an honest question. Where are the damn signings at now that Gino hurt again, Williams hurt, Kalil still too hurt to play, where is any sort of help at all? Can't even give an udfa a shot at least? We plan on rolling out Butler as a right tackle if an emergency happens next week in Seattle? What if Trai gets hurt? Uh oh! What if Scott gets hurt ? Oh poo! What about fugging Remmers? We are so fugged. Cam is so fugged, who cares if it's a guy that was undrafted, at least he would be a real o linemen. I'd hate to see Cam get destroyed because we decide to try our d tackles at o line men
