If he's there for us, get your cam out because centerfielders are highly sought after, especially one that has ball skills.

In addition, Rivera has wanted to draft an elite safety for a while.

I don't think it fits his defensive personality at all...they don't seem to actually value back end on that level. The scheme seems to be what they think they can put good players in and make em great like Kurt Coleman obviously out performed his talent when he was our FS.

This is not to say he sucks but as a 7th round pick to get that production out of him in our scheme is clearly a combination as he hasn't looked that good anywhere else including SS.

I'd be surprised with his 1 year of starting too which is why in response to your elite S thing I see Adams as the pick they'd do if they went S. A couple reports from NFL scouts have him sucking year one but becoming all pro since he's inexperienced but with our current roster we COULD take that hit while he learns.

Would be interesting he is compared to Ed Reed.

Can't believe no one has posted this yet:

“A guy I’d compare myself to right now would be Greg Olsen of the Panthers,” he said. “I think Greg does a great job of blocking. He’s a three-down tight end. He runs great routes. He has great hands. He’s a guy I studied a lot on film in college, so I would compare myself to him.

You honestly think Rivera (who coveted Weddle) and Gettleman would have passed on Earl Thomas?

Who knows they've passed on great players as every HC/GM does. Butler over HH being a recent screw up.

And seeing as how we didn't have a first round pick that year it'd have been hard for any of our HC/GM combos to get em.

Well really its to the fact we run the ball 50% of the time means less snaps for passing plays.

Yes, of course this is a big factor as well limiting targets for our lesser WRs.  Thanks for the reminder.

It goes both ways though. Just like having an elite RB frees up your WR's to get open by making the defense commit someone else to the box, we need a WR that is a threat on every play. KB doesn't stretch the field. Teams can still bring an extra defender to the box with us and recover in time when it is play-action because KB doesn't have the speed. I'm really coming around to the idea of Corey Davis at 8. I think he would be perfect in our offense and is insurance if Funchess never pans out.

No, we won't.

If we do, it'll be a TE in the later rounds.

While the chances are we won't draft Howard it won't be because we still have Olsen.  It will be because DG will want one of the DEs still on he board.   What is sad is if he falls to N.O. or Tampa (saw one mock that has him to TB) or Atlanta.

The we can hear all the bitchin about how the hell do we stop him.

Dude, that would mean we would have Howard play #2 for 3 years at least. WTF, no. Gettleman is not gonna waste an 8th overall pick on a guy who is barely going to get his number called. Shula isn't Chud. Shula utilizes the #2 TE to block.

Maybe we are going to mix it up..Howard helps all 3 phases of the game if he is actually that good..blocking, receiving, and the run game. It does not matter how many yards he gets but snap count..if he is good it will allow our olsen or wrs to be more open or maybe he is open and can be a safety release for Cam after blocking...to say he would be a waste is not smart...they realize the offense needs help..as much of back up TEs we kept signing last yr I think they wished they got hunter henry but went another way .i don't think it will happen this yr we will get a top TE i hope OJ Howard but if not maybe leggett.

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
