Good book series (maybe, anyway)

So, I've only read the first in the series, but it's pretty good. It's called "The Remaining" by DJ Molles.

The general story is a post-apocalypse setting where a military member is trying to survive. Oddly enough, it's set in NC and nicely describes the Triangle area. Won't say more to not give too much away, but I like it. It's not zombies (I thought it was briefly, but the story quickly corrected me). Think more I Am Legend. It's a pretty good, quick read (about 320 pages). There are 6 in the series and I was hooked after 3 chapters in book 1. Plan on grabbing the next couple and seeing how it goes.

Interesting thing about the author is he's a former cop who worked with a lot of former military service members who shared their own experiences, so he writes with that knowledge and that makes for pretty informed and engaging reading, if you're into that sort of thing like I am.

I haven't read it but I might check it out.

Can I ask, though, if the author has obvious right-leaning ideals in his survivalist approach? I've read a couple books where you could tell the author was motivated by his own political agenda, and it was a big turn off.

    • I swear Morgan didn't have 1st(#1 overall) or a 2nd rounder in this rebuild.......Then his first 2nd rounder that he gave up two 5ths for is now out for basically 2 years..... Football is not forgiving....
    • This. They better not even think about bringing him back if they are short on TE's.
    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
