The...South Carolina Panthers?

Logistics wise, I looked up some details on AT&T Stadium. It took about three years to build, and some time had to be spent securing properties and things like that before hand (probably about a year or less).

I seriously doubt we'd be looking at something as ambitious as Jerryworld, so it might not take quite so long to complete if approved. I imagine the Panthers would continue to use BOA while they were waiting.

Thus, if something like this were to happen, the new stadium could open around 2020 or later.

Johnny on his own definitely definitely doesn’t have the juice for this. Majority owner only needs like 30%. No doubt they could get the other money buy you need that much without much of any leverage. He doesn’t have that. Bowles wife on the other hand just may have it.  Thing is you probably need a clean billion in cash, all one person then enough left over to spend on the team, live life etc.  there are maybe 5 people in NC with thy rope. There are prob another 15 folks with NC ties in NY/ CT (hedge fund types) that could fund this rather easily.

AT&T cost a billion to build, but the city and the NFL paid roughly half of it.

In context though, I'm not certain Bowles or Harris are the ones tied to the South Carolina plan.

The reason it's far fetched is you need to hotels to host a super bowl. Even if it's 30 min away from all the hotels it's too far to host a Superbowl. Plus the Panthers own the stadium out right. They'd have to build too many hotels it's just not possible. On top of all that I expect a bid to either retrofit (more so) the stadium add indoor training facilities and more with a new owner. In fact I'd think they'd consider expanding the size with new construction taking over mint street building more seats or adding a dome.

There is alot they could do but they'd never lose the convenience of walking to the stadium.

6 people in South Carolina are Panthers fans and their biggest population center is roughly 135k(Charleston, SC for those that don't want to Google it).

I think this is the dumbest thing I have ever read on the Huddle.

Google? The Charleston area is about 380,000  Strong. Charleston is more than the City of Charleston. That being said i dont think that area would be good for the Panthers anyway

A thought to consider on this...

We know there is a group of "heavy hitters" that wants to buy the team and  keep it local.

Supposing  they hold the winning bid, do we assume"local" means Charlotte?

If there is the possibility of a newer, better stadium that's still technically in the Charlotte area, is it guaranteed they turn that down strictly because it's not in Charlotte proper?

Who can say?
