What Do You Think About Steve Comments

When the only 2 wins you have are against 2 teams fighting for the #1 pick in the 2010 draft, it is not a lot to brag about. Especially when you look at the scores. 20-17 and 28-21. Not exactly dominating performances there.

At this time, I just don't see how we can realistically expect to win more than 5-6 games this season based on what has transpired through the first 5 games. Given this bleak outlook on the rest of the season, why not turn over total control of the offensive play calling to Davidson. You mean he doesn't have total control now, you ask? It is same as when D Henning was here. It was not the OC, it was Fox that was the problem with the offense. If Davidson has total responsibility for the game plan, then, after a game or two, we see if Jake's play is worthy of a starting QB. If not, bench his hide and start Moore and see what he does for the rest of the season.

This will never happen because Fox is the head coach and he is the main problem with this team. We have kept and overpaid players who can not win a roster spot on any other team in the NFL. We are the NFL's version of some type of feel good encounter group for players that can't tackle, can't pass, and can't catch. We have an elite receiver on this team, yet we can't seem to find a way to get him the ball. We don't throw him the smoke route anymore. We never use him in a WR screen play. He never goes in motion. He never lines up as a slot receiver. We don't run any reverses. We never use any 3 WR sets. We only practice and use the same running plays we have used over and over and over and over. Running the ball is fine and a good idea, but sooner or later you need to be able to pass. Right now, due to Fox, our passing game is non existent. If your QB is only going to hand the ball off and throw 4-5 yd passes, then why not let Moore be the QB? Can he be any worse than Jake? I just don't see how.

I am a huge Smitty fan, but he needs to shut his mouth and play football. When did it become more about stats then winning? If we win who cares who had the bigger game, we ran the ball for over 260 yards they couldn't stop the run so keep running the ball. Forcing the ball to Smitty is not the way to go he will get his touches just not when he is double and triple covered. He has a huge impact on the game when it takes two players to cover him that means we should be able to pound the rock with D-will and J-stew. Lets just win football games and not worry about fantasy stats even though he is my number 1 receiver on my fantasy team.

Now see thats just the thing

WE AREN'T WINNING

Smith had to go through what 12 QB's his 07 year... did he complain much. Was he called a primadonna? Or did he just go out there and play football? Oh ok

I think these comments echo what people have been saying, that Jake Delhomme is a team cancer that is useless to us now because he cant get the ball to #89. They echo that Panthers FO is starting to look like they dont know how to utilize and keep their star players happy. That when its all said & done we set the franchise back 4-5 years so we could make sure our Great Hope's horse stable was the best in Louisiana. Smitty and the rest of receivers pathetic numbers are a symptom of not having a starting NFL quarterback on our roster. Its like tryna drive a Ferrari with a Ford Escort engine, it just wont work. I dont expect Smitty to be an impact until we can find us a starting NFL QB, cuz right now we dont have 1.

Jakes' arm and confidence are done, we need to go in a new direction. Starting Moore Sunday would be a good move. I think the Franchise has been set back 2-3 years by Hurneys' mishandling of the Peppers situation moreso than Jakes' contract. Renegotiating his contract was mandatory because the idiot Hurney tied up all our cap space with Pep, then panicked and traded away our #1 in case Pepe didn't end up coming back. We're fugged, at this point I'd have no problem trading Smitty for a #1 this year so when Fox and Hurney are blown out, we have the draft picks to start moving ahead. A full draft, an extra 20 mill in cap space and a new staff would do wonders for the team.

You have to ask yourself. WWBD?

What would Belicheck do? :D

Huh? Did I miss something because I thought the Panthers just won 2 straight?

Apparently that doesn't count because we didn't beat the Saints or the Vikings. I'm with you though...a win is a win, period. Hell, the 03 Super Bowl team didn't blow out losing teams either.

Oh great 2 barely wins against the worst teams in the NFL... can we get some cookies and milk

What yall gonna say by the end of the season when we have more losses than wins?

Let me play. What are you gonna say if Fox and Jake turn it around and wins the next 10 games?

All I know is that we beat a division rival who hates us. I know that the records really don't matter when we play Tampa because they are gonna be fired up to play the Panthers no matter what. I also know that we have a very winnable game next week against the Bills. I know that I will enjoy this win and worry about the end of the season at the end of the season.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
