Khalil Mack anyone?

I'm no NFL cap expert... but we'd have to dump a lot of salary to get him right? Doesn't seem feasible. If we could get him for just picks I would at least explore it though. Our championship window is now in my opinion. Newton/Kuechly/Mack is a deadly core.

I'd definitely think it over...  if we're picking in the bottom fourth of the first each year, we really wouldn't miss those picks if we had Mack for them.  We will need a pass rusher to take the helm once Pep retires, and you likely aren't going to find a player of his caliber in the back of the first.  He is a beast.

Raiders asking for two first round picks to trade him.  Would you do it if you’re the Panthers?. With Peppers retiring soon, we will definitely need to replace him.

Seriously do you watch this team or just want attention? Why would we send TWO fuging FIRSTS FOR A POSITION OF STRENGTH AND THE FACT THAT WE COULDN'T AFFORD HIM? PEPPERS DOESN'T PLAY THE SAME DAMN POSITION.

Calm your ass down.  I am not advocating giving up two firsts, but I would hope we're at least exploring the trade option of  something less.  If you don't like the topic, just ignore it, or do YOU want the attention?

And Mack is  Defensive End, how is that not the same position as Peppers?

So where does the cap space come from to fit him in at 14M THIS YEAR. Then 20+M the next 4-5. There are actual rules we, and every team has to follow. We are already staring at a huge cap hit just to get rid of Kalil. Who are the players that are leaving because we can’t pay them? That will close a window quickly.

And this is why I baulk. It's not necessarily the picks, but would he just be a one year rental - for two, first round picks? If both Kalils agreed to retire after this season, then I would definitely consider.

There is one option, they want two firsts. There is no exploration. He's not a DE either, he's an 3-4 OLB for a scheme that doesn't fit ours.

Actually, let's send them Cam and Luke. Allows us to free up the cap space, we get our pass rusher, and we can have Gilbert lead us to the promise land. While we're at it, throw in CMC, maybe they'll send us Cooper. I MEAN WHY NOT, IT CERTAINLY DESERVES A THREAD TO DISCUSS

There are an abundance of much, much cheaper 4-3 DEs in this year’s draft. I’d rather use the 2020 first to jump up in 2019’s draft to get a young stud who doesn’t cost close to $20M per year.

Yes, bust potential but again if we draft (I definitely want a DE in the 1st) a DE in the first, assuming we only move up to 11th max, we would be looking at a cap cost of $20-25 million for 5 years instead of $100 million for 5 years.

With Cam’s re-up and Daryl and Devin, etc. we could have a rookie DE (and a good one) and a lot of other pieces or Mack. Sorry but he’s not that good. He’s been awesome for years and the Raiders mediocre except one great year for Carr. Even Von Miller wasn’t a SB champ without a lot of other great D players around him.

I can respect a well expressed argument, instead of the idiotic RumHam posts.  Cheers!

    • That may be true but not having a competent and talented safety is what let Stafford cook us down the field in almost less than 1 minute and bouncing us out the playoffs.  Scott is a liability in each level of the game IMO and a versatile player at that position can completely change the look of a defense just as much as a pass rusher. Knocked down passes big moments, turnovers, TFL, QB pressures on blitzes, etcetera.   I'm  not saying you don't want us to draft a safety, but most of us should agree that WE NEEEED a lights out safety on this team finally.  If DM moves up a spot before Vikings and not give up much to snag him for us I won't be mad in slightest. This kid is a DAWG and I believe he could possibly be a staple on this defense the likes of the guys we still sing praises for Peppers, Kuechly, Davis, Rucker, Beason, Morgan, Gamble..............Thieneman?

    • Picks: Nos. 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 I'm extremely excited for the Panthers' 2026 draft. How could you not be? After two straight offseasons of aggressive defensive spending, coordinator Ejiro Evero's unit looks ready to make the leap. Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloydfill out two of the biggest gaps on the roster, though the Panthers should not be discounted from drafting a top edge rusher early. Phillips is a major injury risk and not a sack artist, so he doesn't fully solve the Panthers' 5.3% sack rate from last season (27th in the league). The Panthers might be the Akheem Mesidor(Miami) team, as they need his production immediately. The Panthers are also often tagged as the Kenyon Sadiq team, which is very possible. No one among Tommy Tremble, Ja'Tavion Sanders and Mitchell Evans has played his way into an unquestioned starting role. But the Panthers do have three tight ends on the roster, two of whom are on rookie contracts. Sadiq would fit nicely in Dave Canales' offense, which has a dynamic screen game and schemes up targets well. But I'd like to see an accompanying move to make room at the position for Sadiq's snaps to love the pick. There's much more room at wide receiver, where a second three-level option to run besides Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan could really bust open this offense. I could see an early pick spent in the secondary, which might come as a surprise to some. Slot corner Chau Smith-Wade has been fine but could be improved upon if an elite nickel option is available at No. 51 (think D'Angelo Ponds from Indiana or Keionte Scottfrom Miami). Depth behind the outside corners is also quite thin, and Mike Jackson (29 years old) is in a contract year, so a player with inside-out versatility would have even more value. Clemson's Avieon Terrell, anyone? The Panthers can also buttress the slot by drafting a safety with good man coverage traits to play opposite Tre'von Moehrig, as neither Lathan Ransom nor Nick Scott has emphatically secured that role. Treydan Stukes(Arizona) is another option who would make a lot of sense at No. 51. Bottom line: Wide receiver, pass rusher and defensive back are the big needs. Attack them aggressively -- this is the end of Bryce Young's rookie contract, so it's time to push
