Game Grades

QB/RB/OL: A

These guys picked this team up and carried them on their backs today.  CMC 180+ yards, CJ with a nice TD. Cam despite WRs unable to get open or dropped pass,  he still made plays.  This OL doesnt get the credit.  Cam was kept clean for the most part, nice holes for CMC vs a good DL centered with Geno Adtkins.

LB: C

These guys didnt give up to many bad plays but didnt stick out either.  Backup RB again ran 5 yards a carry

WR: C-

Funchess made a few good plays.  But right off the bat, Smith had a big drop and that wasnt the only one.  Not only drops but struggled to get open especially on key downs.

DBs: C-

Jackson and Bradberry played a A game.  But the DBs overal were trash. Dalton threw for 350+ with Green out of the game for majority.  Wrs just sliced them like swiss cheese.  TEs just destroyed our safeties.

DL: C-

Obada carried them this high after having himself a game with a sack and int.  He also was one of the only ones to create pressure.  Dalton had all day today, and it took us 3 and a half quarters to really get presssure on Dalton.  Their RB avg over 5 yards a carry.  All this playing with a backup center this week.  Without Obada, this is a D

Coaching C

Some real nice calls on offense.  Defense still looks lost, and under a defensive minded HC its a little worrisome.  WR still once again struggled.  After struggling last week, Ron came out and said we need to get Moore more involved  and expect to see that.  Moore came in and had 1 out route and 1 end around, far far from being involved in this offense.  All while the rest of his WR peers struggled to get open and hold onto balls.

Cam, RBs, and OL carried this team.  The rest of the roster and staff owe them a nice steak dinner about now

Obada: A+

Rest of DL: D. We have a lot of big money players in that unit that aren't doing much. Very little pressure on most passing plays and lost contain over and over again even when not creating pressure. Poor gap assignment on plenty of running plays. This unit has to start playing better.

Jackson: A+. Can't ask anything more of a rookie. Two INTs, very solid tackling in support.

Bradberry: B+. At this point it's probably just time to realize that he's never going to he much of a turnover generator, but if he continues to cover like he did today and vs. Atlanta I'll take that every week.

Safeties: F. No other way to put it. Our safeties are a problem and they get exposed when our DL is playing like they currently are.

Shaq: Lets just say he's done nothing thus far to keep TD off the field after his suspension is up.

Luke: B. He made the plays when they were there to be made, but the Bengals had a very good game plan on offense today to do their best to avoid him. Kudos to that.

Mayo: Trash. He's like the Amini of the defense - he spends most of his time on the field on the ground.

Cam: A. He's back in MVP form. A couple of high misfires is the only thing keeping this from being an A+.

CMC: A+. We're seeing what he's capable of doing with a real OC and it's very impressive. He has a lot more power in his game compared to his rookie season and he's running through tackles now and finishing plays.

WRs: C. Made some plays, dropped several balls. Overall, they could definitely play better but we can win a lit of games with this level of play.

Moore: Incomplete. So much for getting him more involved. We have a 1st round WR gunning on special teams.

OL: A+. Seriously, we can't possibly ask for more out of this banged up unit.

Gano: A+. Kickoffs out of the endzone, XPs right down the middle, clutch FG to out the nail in the coffin right down the middle. Can't do any better than that.

Palardy: A+. Even the blocked punt turned out pretty well.

    • Jalon Walker not looking like a bust? That can't be right.
    • To be fair. Our GM is the assistent of the worst GM in NFL history.  We pay trillions of dollars on the Oline and cant pass protect or run.  We pay trllions of dollars on the D-dine and cant pass rush.  We cant draft. We are a bad team. With a bad owner and really bad management.
    • Stud: WR Tetairoa McMillan In the midst of all the incompetence and mediocrity, there's one shining hope for the future of this franchise. Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan led the team with six catches and 100 receiving yards. He also had an extremely impressive one-handed catch wiped out becaue he couldn't quite stay in-bounds. McMillan is a bit slower, but there are flashes of some Julio Jones in his game. His route running and YAC ability are both far better than they were advertised coming out of the draft.   Or, you know, exactly what anyone who watched enough of his tape would have known.   Honestly, our Arizona board could never understand this knock on him in the pre-draft process, because we all knew it wasn't true.  And sure, we're fans who watched all his games, but you'd think the experts who supposedly watch all the snaps of these type of prospects would have been seeing it too, it was glaringly obvious to us. Seriously, how many times did I say here that he could run every route needed?  How many times did I talk about his surprisingly good run after catch ability for someone his size?  How he wasn't a burner, but he was amazingly smooth for a 6'5" WR? As I've said, only 2 players from Arizona, both football and basketball, have I ever felt they were 1 million percent can't miss stars in the pros.  T-Mac and Gronkowski, that's it.  One is the greatest TE in NFL history, the other is about to take Smitty's mantle as the Panthers WR GOAT when all is said and done.
