I agree here. Early on we had 3rd and 4th downs from outside the 5 we had to pass. But when that penalty granted us a first and we had about 8 seconds on the clock I felt like that is when CMC had to get the ball. They just picked the wrong down.

running it on first down meant they had one shot at the endzone.

passing it on first down gave the two tries.

when the clock is your enemy, running the ball is the absolute last thing you want to do.
