Cam was injured.  CMC is not.

Again, would you have forced Cam to sit when he was healthy, as soon as the playoffs were out of reach?

Last two games in 2011 when he's going for OROY?

Last two games in 2016?

Again, my analytical brain says yes, you force them to sit, take the L's and get a better draft position.  All the while sitting lots of vets, and getting some younger guys some snaps.  Hell yes, that sounds good in theory, but again, these guys train all year, and practice all week to be able to play on Sunday...you are taking that from them.

Ouch. You’re hurting @TheRed

What is the standard you are looking for? He was rookie of the year, and began his career throwing for almost a thousand yards in his first two starts. He was also an MVP and one of the most prolific rushing quarterbacks the league has seen in years. Yes his passing numbers over his full career aren't eye popping but in terms of the full package he brought in his prime I don't really think it's a question he's shattered some records. In terms of player milestones, league MVP has got to be up there.

Let’s quit talking about “ifs”. He never broke any milestone records

I'm trying to wrap my head around the chasing meaningless records in a losing season thing after all the talk we've had to endure the last several months about those "player only" fans.

Have to say I doubt it would have gone over well if people were talking about Newton chasing records being the team goal in a losing season.

‘85 SF -10-6 lost wild card. Roger Craig 1k/1k

‘99 STL 13-3 SB Champs Marshall Faulk 1k/1k

Christian has a shot to join an elite club of RBs.  The only 2 that did it have gold jackets.  It’s an admitted goal he set before the season.  As long as he agrees, let him go for it.  Yeah an injury would suck but he’s trained to be a lead back for 16+ games.  He can see the finish line. Just sit back and be in awe of a single season performance for the ages.

It wouldn’t. This board used to kill Brees and the saints for chasing offensive records in their lost seasons.
