If that's the case, then Trai should've absolutely been traded for draft assets instead of an aging LT coming off of injury and going into the last year of his contract. I definitely think we wanted to try to upgrade LT.

I'll concede you make a good point. I guess the truth could be somewhere in the middle. I think Trai was not in their plans and they were committed to shopping him even if they couldn't get great value back. They may have sought a draft pick after all; we don't know what offers were being thrown out. Maybe the Chargers were willing to part with either a 5th or Okung and the Panthers figured at that value, they were better off helping solidify an important position in 2020 over a draft pick that might not make the team. All conjecture obviously. I will openly acknowledge my guesses could be completely wrong.

We could easily make room for him if we wanted him.

We can cut RB Mike Davis and save $3M with zero dead cap. We can cut C Mike Reed and save $1.425M with zero dead cap. That's $4.425M of immediate cap space available with no penalty on top of the $7.6M currently available.

Warford is reportedly looking for 7 million a year (Rapoport).
