Gross or Peppers?

Peppers

Gross CAN be replaced. One could say he could be replaced by somebody already on the team. If Peppers goes, I would hate to see how much worse this defensive line can become.

Gross and Peppers can both be replaced but with what type of talent? Yes, Peppers is a very rare talent but let's not act like Gross is some no name that happened to become the starting LT. It might even be just as difficult to replace Gross as it would to replace Peppers. Drafting a LT that could replace Gross would have to have us drafting in at least the top half of the 1st round. And if you are thinking about a free agent, good luck on signing one of Gross' talent for anything less than what Gross is going to be demanding.

Right now the offensive line is working and the defensive line is struggling. Even with Peppers that line needs improving, especially in the middle. And if you can't improve that line what good is Peppers? All teams are going to do and have done is game plan around stopping Peppers.

I hope that Hurney can figure out a way to keep both of them. But if he does that he also better figure out a way to improve the d-line as well. It only took 7 weeks for teams to figure out this defense this season. Imagine what will happen if the team returns the same starters on defense next season.

Get rid of them both, the NFL is a league that only the teams at the top constantly rebuild. Peppers I would keep for the same amount that he is getting now, he hasn't played on a level like Dwight Frenney, or a Mario Williams, so why should he be the highest paid DE in the league? Don't get me wrong I love Peppers he has the talent, he just doesn't have the heart.

i want whatever HE'S smoking! WOW...

all freeny can do is rush the passer...period. pep can do it all and DOES do it all.... his play this year should have mollified his critics from last years performance.

williams is a stud. would love to have him opposite pep. that said i still think pep is better and has more experience (obviously).

pep deserves the money and will get it regardless of whether it's w/ us or not. no matter what team he's on he's an upgrade to whoever is already there. period.

God no!! Marshall? GOD NO!!! Marshall gets attacked the instant he's on the field. He's terrible...absolutely terrible

Talk about an exaggeration. He's had some rough games this year but no more so than Lucas or even Gamble lately. Marshall has yet to reach his potential, whereas Lucas seems to be on the down slide.

Anyway, I'd keep Peppers if I had to choose between him and Gross. We already need help on the D-line, so not re-signing Peppers would only exacerbate the situation.

It may be a moot point though, because they are probably going to keep them both, even if it involves franchising somebody.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
