Today was not on Delhomme at all

Jake played one of the worst stretches of football (from last years AZ game to the Buffalo game) of any starting QB in the NFL ever. That stretch is definitely impacting the playcalling.

They have basically restricted him to short passes until things are desperate. They may be trying to build Jake's confidence backup to a point where he can be somewhat effective again. Fwiw, I hope it works.

Despite yesterday's game (a game which I never expected us to win anyway) we still have a shot at the playoffs. Not much of a shot, but a shot nonetheless. The next two games are winnable games for us. Win them and get to 500, and who knows what will happen.

I would love to see Jake comeback and take us on a winning streak. Dont' think it will happen, but would still love to see it.

It wasn't Delhommes fault today!! If it was I would be the first to point that out but clearly he wasn't the issue. He only threw the ball 12 times in the first 3 quarters because he didn't need to. If we had complete control of the game why change what we were doing?

Today D. Williams REALLY hurt us with that drop in the endzone. That would have made it 24 13 and completely shifted momentum back in our favor. Delhomme did bobble the snap before but he still made a damn good read to find williams open who couldnt bring it in.

Also the fumble on the 1 yard line ended any hope of making a comeback from a game we had locked up in the first half.

D. Jarrett is another bust. They have touted him as being awesome in practice but he has yet to deliver. Had a beautiful pass go right through his hands. Could have changed the outcome.

J. Stewart ran like he didn't give a damn today and fumbled on the 16. Luckily gamble got that INT.

But clearly the one play that hurt was the Deangelo drop. That would have made it an 11 point game instead of 7.

The defense looked lost in the second half. I can't understand why because everything N.O was doing was very simple. They ran the same play twice for a huge gainer and completed multiple short screens that kept going for 10+ yards.

Today was def. not on Delhomme, surprisingly.

dewill already does EVERYTHING! you can't blame him for a couple of bad plays when jake makes many during each game! jake was off target in his only few passes he made. how many overthrows did jake make? TOO MANY!

you can't expect dewill to make every single play without any mistakes at all to bail out jake who makes mistakes on about half of the times he touches the ball. dewill can't do it all. he needs some help from his QB the rest of the game.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
