I’m not sure what they mean by didn’t work out for them. Didn’t they go from #1 pick to playoffs? They were a playoff team in 4 of his 6 years. If not for an odd injury they would likely have been a playoff team all but one year he was there.

People in here truly think that Luck scorned us even though he’s said he didn’t. That butt hurt tries to make it seem like he was mediocre. They had no D and an awful OL and they were still 11-5 his first three years. Not like he could stop Blount from getting 314 yards and 7 TDS (JFC) in 2 playoff games.

Unfortunately for Luck, he got hurt. I think that’s why he retired. He had another leg injury and I think he was going to miss most of that season so he hung it up.

We've seen recent stories say that the Panthers like this year's crop of quarterbacks and that nearly every team in the league has inquired about Wilson.

Gotta figure he's on our board, maybe high.

The news that we like this year’s QBs is kind of a red herring. Aside from a couple teams like KC, everyone likes this year’s QBs. There are two studs at the top, legit ones more like Eli, Rivers and Roethlisberger versus Winston and Mariota, and then there’s a bunch of other potential. It’s a pretty solid QB class compared to most recent classes.

    • In all honesty, no one knows if Dan really pushed for Bryce to be drafted. It's not fair to Dan to say that just because he was a part of the Fitterer regime then he was in full support of drafting Bryce. If the HC, Reich at the time really wanted Stroud but got bullied into drafting Bryce then Dan had even less say so in the matter. Dan was also saddled with giving Bryce an opportunity to compete in years 2/3 because of the cost to trade up and get him by ownership.  Outside of managing the QB position, Dan has made good moves and built a decent roster. Solidified the O-line and D-line, drafted contributors, and made good trades (Mike Jackson), and free agent signings (Dowdle). I do believe that this offseason will be really important for Dan and we'll see whose side he is clearly on. Bryce has had plenty of time and opportunity to prove himself and he has failed, if Dan is a Bryce homer he'll give him another year and pick up the 5th year option. If Dan isn't a Bryce homer, he'll move on from Bryce. Either way, we'll find out this offseason.
    • You also have to extend him and probably deal/cut Bryce
    • Jones would be what he is if he was on this team, a fairly middle of the road game manager. Still and upgrade but probably not worth the price the 49ers may want for him. If it's not something stupid in terms of ask and he doesn't want something even more stupid in terms of longish term contract, I am okay with a middling game manager until we can do better through the draft. The one thing that wouldn't be terrible is some stability at QB. That has almost never happened under Tepper.
