Deangelo Williams - Best Back in the NFL

Williams could be argued as the best in the league, for sure. The top 3 is hard to say decisively, but it would definitely consist of Peterson, Williams, and Steven Jackson (Rams)

Jackson has to deal with Marc Bulger, an inexperienced receiving corps, a horrible O-line (well, a horrible team in general) and he still puts up great numbers week in and week out.

are you high? the yardage isn't even close. Peterson has 900 more yards than Williams in 3 years. Not to mention almost 200 more touches.

No, not really. Considering Dwill hasn't started but 1 1/2 season's vs a guy who has been the go to guy for his team all three years. 900 yards on 200 more touches, go back an read that again. He's gotten 200 more touches over those three years, only has 900 more yards, has around the same amount of Td's and has a lot more fumbles.

4.5 yards per carry in those 200 more touches with 15 fumbles compared to Dwill's 4/5 fumbles over that same time period.

Advantage Dwill.

I'm not saying williams might not be a better back, imo the jury isn't in yet. But to say 3000 yards is almost the same as 3885 is homeristic. Williams, this year is working under the same conditions as peterson has been working under the last two, i.e. 8-9 in the box on every play. We'll see how he does. I'm not thrilled with the results thus far. That being said, he's the only one producing on offense.

Not thrilled, With the team overall, Yes. Dwill, No. he's averaging over 4.4 ypc, I think it's around 4.5-4.6, he's 5th in rushing yards and top 10 in touchdowns rushing.

    • This And with possibly needing to replace Bryce next year and a deep QB class, I do not hate the idea of moving far enough back to pick up another 1st rounder next year out of the deal. I wouldn't have said that a week ago, but I also never expected us to land 3 big FA's at our 3 biggest positions of need like we have, it totally changes things.
    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
