Let's try some Panthers football fantasy

(By Tom Sorensen, [email protected]) When the Carolina Panthers lost at home to Buffalo five weeks ago, I wrote that their season had ended. When the Panthers drew in, covered up and cowered up in a loss to New Orleans two weeks later, I wrote that their season had still ended.p/Technically, however, the season has not ended. The Panthers are 4-6. If they win their remaining six games, they'll go 10-6. Every NFC team that has finished 10-6 the past five seasons has made the playoffs.

As if the jets really matter...its the viking and pat and saint game that puts us logically at 7-9...the and thats if we can handle the giants, and given we beat the Buccs and jets which at this points its really hard to tell.

So if we give the panther the benefit of the doubt, they will be 7-9.

I will say if we beat the pats, buccs and jets I think that kind of momentum can really turn things, the pat game is the key...

    • Nfl leaders don't look at the population of just the city itself.  Charlotte has three of the top fifty combined statistical areas within a 1 to 1.5 hour drive.  Charlotte, Greensboro/WS/High Point, and Greenville Spartanburg.  Those three statistical areas include nearly 7 million people.  Other than Raleigh, the only one in the top fifty within an hour and half of raleigh is Greensboro.  So only about 4-5 million people.  Charlotte has many more people to draw from.   Also, many of the surrounding communities for Raleigh are not native born.  If memory serves, many still refer to Cary as Containment area for relocated Yankees.  One of the reasons the Canes do so well is a significant portion of the population are people who moved from Northern Areas.  Would that population translate into support for a NFL team?  Hard to say, but I see a tremendous amount of Giants/Jets jerseys in the triangle when I forced to endure the crazy traffic on 40/85.
    • This will also be prime Training Camp meltdown time on here lol. Preseason game 1 August 8th, i'm guessing camp starts around July 25-27th
