More trouble for the Patriots

First, the loss to the Dolphins. Then the incident with Randy Moss and others. Also the oddball comments from Adalius Thomas in the wake of that incident.

And now...this:

Patriots mascot arrested in prostitution sting

Rhode Island State Police said they’ve arrested 14 people for prostitution-related crimes since a new law went into effect that banned indoor prostitution, including a man who plays the New England Patriots’ mascot.

State police said Friday that since last month, they have arrested eight men, five women and one 17-year-old girl for prostitution or for procurement of sexual conduct for a fee.

Law enforcement sources told NBC 10 one of the johns who tried to pay for sex with a prostitute was 47-year-old Robert Sormanti of Warwick. He is one of several people who plays the Pat the Patriot mascot.

“The Pat Patriot mascot costume is worn by multiple people, each of whom are held responsible and accountable for their actions. The individual in question has been suspended. The mascot responsibilities will continue to be fulfilled by others,“ said a statement from the team.

A call to Sormanti’s home was not immediately returned.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that a guy in a mascot costume is pushing fifty? :sosp:

One other quirky little tidbit from this story...

These are the first arrests since the governor signed a new law that closed a loophole that made indoor prostitution legal. Eight men and six women were arrested.

So prostitution was legal as long as it was done indoors?

(would door-to-door sales be considered inside or outside?)

I've lived in Rhode Island before and there has been a lot of debate about this issue over the last several years. Prostitution is legal as long as the solicitation is not done out in public. For example you could meet up with a hooker from Craigslist legally. (Not that i'd know anything about this). The ladies of the night just couldn't be out in downtown Providence yelling "sucky sucky $10 dollar" though.

They just made everything prostitution illegal anyway, as made obvious about this story. Used to be RI and Nevada (sans Las Vegas) were the only two places where it was legal.

    • I don't think it's a homer though when I really feel this team can beat anyone.  The points that can be scored in bunches when the big three are on has high potential.  Moose has effort for days and IMO is the heart of the team.  And didn't see Miles becoming the team "vet" in the starting lineup just roleplaying lol.   We have to limit the turnovers though (Brandon Miller I'm looking at you bud, you are a bad ball handler) and some little things.   Colby off the bench is a cheat code and him and Kaulk have a nice little game going with the picks.    Sion playing every game and just getting better each game.  He has grit.  Grant and Green also grit.  We need replace Tillman with PJ Hall though.  Tillman looks like someone that shouldn't be on an NBA court, or at least with this team, he's just too slow for this tempo.   Even McNeely looked decent tonight and can drive.   If Kaulk and Moose could even be like 30% 3pt shooters man....
    • 1.) LaMelo 2.) Kon 3.} Miller 4.. Giannis 5.) Moose   1.) Coby 2.) ? 3.) Sion 4.) Miles Bridges 5.) Kalk That squad would win multiple chips.
