Something that has perplexed me...

Here's what we did with Everette Brown:

We traded away a top 10 pick next year for a defensive end with worse stats than 3rd round defensive end Matt Shaughnessy who has 1 more tackle and 1.5 more sacks than Brown does. We could have just picked Shaughnessy with the pick we used on Martin and received slightly more production than the guy we gave away a top 10 pick for.

Way to go Marty Hurney!

Hindsight is 20-20. There are players at EVERY position that outperform higher drafted players. It happens in every draft and to every team. Wonder how all those teams feel that passed on Brady and took another QB?

If drafting was a perfect science, there would be no surprise players or busts. It is not, and there are.

Please stop with your kindergarten level evaluation of every situation. You are embarassing yourself.

While I agree that Brown has not done as well as we had hoped, I think he is growing in the game. We thought Pep was gone and needed someone who "may" one day be able to supplement (not replace) Pep not being here. More importantly and I know I will get reamed for this but I do have insight as to why we gave up the upcoming years 1st rounder.

They did it on purpose. They don't wont a first round pick in a possibly uncapped year. Too much hit on the bottom line for too many years. "It's a business and we are not willing to gamble on a extremely inflated rookie contract due to no cap restrictions when everyone knows that not every first round pick is a probowler" I can't say who said it but know this was the thought process in giving up this years first round pick.
