Sorry kids, Jason Campbell is garbage

I never liked Jason Campbell to begin with, he is a mediocre quarterback at best. He is still fairly young at age 27, but I don't see him improving much or any for that matter. I would like the Panthers to re-sign Josh McCown and Matt Moore, then draft a quarterback in the second or third round of the draft maybe a Colt McCoy or Tony Pike. Now I know this next thing is unheard of, but going into training camp and the pre-season I would like the Panthers to carry six quarterbacks and let them fight it out for 1st string, 2nd string, and 3rd string.

The Six

Jake Delhomme- Maybe all he needed was some time on the bench, look what the bench did for McNabb.

Josh McCown- McCown never received a fair shot at the starting job after going down with his injury, and I would like him to get an oppurtunity.

Matt Moore- Moore is looking pretty good and if he can win these last two games in the season then I would say the starting job is his to lose.

A.J. Feeley- We never saw what Feeley could actually do out on the football field this season, and I would not be against him getting a fair shot at the starting job.

Hunter Cantwell- Cantwell looked pretty d*mn good during pre-season and I would like to see him get a shot at making the 53 man roster.

Drafted Quarterback- Grooming the quarterback of the future.

Are you friggin' kidding me?

Yeah! Our QB scenario played out so well this season, so lets go into next season with the exact same one! It'll be awesome to waste a draft pick on a QB that "might be" something in a couble years, since that concept is so new to us...

I disagree with u sam....jason campbell also "might" be something too....might is the definition of most talent in the nfl or coming into the nfl.

Not all touted free agents that seem to be good end up being good on another team.

edit: and Campbell doesn't "seem" to be all that good!

Or lets waste money on a mediocre quarterback that in his own right has almost as many interceptions as he does touchdowns. Good Idea!!!

But Campbell has 4 years experience facing starting NFL defenses... and at times, has done pretty well considering his circumstances...

Ask anyone with the knowlege of the situation... Coming into the NFL from college is a big step, and that step gets exponentially bigger for a position as important as the QB...

but experience is one thing. Blaming different coordinators and having a bad oline for one year is another. If he at least showed that he could give a fighting chance in a losing fight I would at least agree with u Jason Campbell fans.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
