If Weis becomes the OC...

I guess I'll play even though I still don't think there's a chance that Weis will be here next year.

I'd go with Moore/McCown, then Clausen, then Quinn. Although I don't think that any of those are desirable options.

I don't like Clausen, especially not if we're having to trade up to get him. I just don't see how a guy like 89 is going to look to someone that's essentially a child for leadership. Look at Clausen's face. The kid has more of a babyface than even Stephen Curry. It's going to be a long time until he's ready to truly lead a team, especially one that's depended on Jake Delhomme for leadership for so long, the one good thing about Delhomme.

You would also probably be looking at a very long adjustment time for Clausen. He was AWFUL as a freshman starting quarterback for ND. Probably the worst D-1 starter in the country that year. He did improve to the point where he was a legit weapon this year for the Irish though.

So while Clausen may be your prototypical quarterback, his intangibles are through the floor bad.

So why do I still have him above Quinn? Because I think Clausen has real boom/bust potential. Clausen could develop into a great quarterback, albeit way down the line. Quinn on the other hand, I see his ceiling as an average quarterback. And I don't want to give up a lot to go get another quarterback that's going to be average at best. I will give Quinn this much...he has hooked up with a Huddle Kitten before. I have to give the man props for that.

I think we have three ideal options: Cut Jake and go with Moore/McCown for next season and then try our hardest to go up and grab a Terrelle Pryor or Blaine Gabbert in the '11 Draft, cut Jake and go sign the cheap "placeholder" free agent quarterback that could be out there and again look to the '11 Draft for a long-term quarterback, or cut Jake and trade for a quarterback with real boom potential like a Matt Leinart or Kevin Kolb.

i mean sure it makes a ton of sense for the guy who worked under parcells to turn vinny testaverde's career around and groomed brady under another parcells guy in belichick to get another shot with our current parcells QB matt moore but i guess you can see through the obvious into the......BEYOND

    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
    • Might as well. We need to get these rookies on the field and see if they can play ASAP.
    • This hate this part of football and then you have to get down to the 53 Man Roster 🙁
