Anyone Think The Peppers From Sunday Night

^ Sorry but teams are not allowed to just pay players what they want and have a player play for them. Peppers wanted out. Its his career and he can do what he wants. Instead of allowing him to leave, they made him stay with a franchise tag. You are acting like the front office had no say in the fact that they choose to apply the tag because they wanted him to play for them. You must think that Peppers is somehow indebted to play for the Panthers for however long you want him to, when he absolutely is not. You are just baby who whines about players who don't do what you want them to with their own careers. Please go have your mother console you rather than trashing valued team members like Peppers.

Pep is a real good DE. You can not with all honesty say that Pep could not be an All Time Great DE.

I am not on the field with him on game days nor do I practice with him every week. I don't really have an issue with him walking away from a game with a 0 on the stat sheet for a game. It is harder than people think to get to a QB in time for a sack.

Its the lack of overall pressure that he causes that is dis-heartening. There are games in which he does disappear. Its just the truth. Usually when he has no success early he seems to just take it back a notch. Its there on live TV, you can't really argue that it doesn't happen. Everyone sees it. Unless Meeks defensive scheme calls for Pep to take 3-4 steps to the QB and stop. Then we need to fire Meeks.

I would love for Pep to remain a Panther because half a Pep is better than just about any DE. But that is what is frustrating to a fan.

You are starting to sound like an idiot. Are you related to Pep? All he had to do was sign the tender and the team could have traded him. The FO could do absolutely nothing until he signed the tender. Yeah, they wanted Pep to play for them, probably not at 16 mil, but they also didn't just want to let him walk.

That might be too simple to understand...

Pepper's played out his contract. He was free to do what he wants until the team chose to put the tag on him. They were faced with letting him go or paying him $16 million. They chose to pay him. This is not Peppers fault, he didn't want to continue playing for them. If Peppers was so concerned with money he would have signed the tender immediately and let the Panthers ship him off to some shithole like Oakland. Instead he stood by his desire to play for a good team, and refused to sign it and get traded to some terrible team. In no way was the front office required to tag him, they did it because they wanted something from Peppers he wasn't obligated to give them and were willing to pay for it.

It was up to him to try and get a deal with a new team, not the Panthers. So he could have gone to NE, one of the teams he said he wanted to go to. Even Belichick told him to sign the tender so a deal could be worked out. He didn't. You have no idea what you are talking about, so I am through with you. Just go on believing what you need to to keep Peppers in you heart. But most of us here know what happened, not my fault you weren't here all spring and summer to keep up with your team....asshat.gif

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
