Why and how the Panthers should draft Ndamukong Suh

Okay hear me out.

IMO Suh the most special player to have come out of the draft since, well, Julius Peppers. So, if Peppers is going to leave in the offseason, pick up a guy that could actually be better than him.

Heres out it could happen.

The Panthers trade Peppers to the Broncos for their 1st round pick they got from Chicago. The Bears are currently setting somewhere between the number 7 and 10 spot in the draft. But looking ahead to the schedule they could end up being as high as 6th spot. Anything higher would be highly unlikely to impossible.

For the sack of this argument, lets say they do get the 6th spot. Denver then aquires that pick via the Cutler trade and then trades it to Carolina for Peppers. Now Carolina is sitting with the #6 pick in the draft.

As for the #1 pick, currently that is being held by St. Louis with only 1 win. Detriot and Tampa are at 2 and 3 with only 2 wins. Worst case senerio would be Tampa getting the #1 pick because you can forget about trading with them but Detriot and St. Louis, both having picked in the top 10 for several years now, would probably be very willing to at least listen to trade offers. And considering that the contracts for this years draft class will be astromonically high due to fears of a rookie cap in 2011 some teams will actually be looking to trade down more so than ever and subsejuntely other teams will take advantage of the situation.

The Panthers could be that team. The big question would be how much would they have to give up to move up 5 spots. I think the #6 pick along with a 3rd this year and maybe a 3rd next year might get it done. And don't forget the Panthers are looking at picking up two additional 3rd round picks for compusation for Hangartner and Omiyale.

I'm know I'm dreaming here but I really like Suh and think he would be worth it in the long run.

Thoughts?

Yes and thus the reason for trading to the #1 pick to get him.

And Delhommy I usually agree but I this isn't a dumb idea just highly unlikely and a wishful thought on my part.

Hell, no playoffs and currently no 1st round pick. All thats let is wishful thinking...

berry won't go 1st overall. suh will

Sorry, thread confusion... my post was in reference to the one quoted above yours... not the one about Berry. I don't even know who he is... :(

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
