A Few Players that Deserve a Shout

Perfect analogy. Both are good not great that your always trying to upgrade.

False. No team puts out 22 great players. Great teams consist of a deep pool of good players and a generous sprinkling of great ones, well coached. Trying to upgrade to greatness in every spot would be the Snyder Redskins route. How's that working out? Notice how the Patriots keep winning every tear by picking up the solid vets that other teams cut because they're not great.

No team stays together and stays under the cap without Hoovers, Diggs and Braytons.

Oh and if the cap is history you can bet no future CBA's will allow a team to buy 'great' players through FA without giving up all their picks every year.

How is Geoff Schwartz doing. I left North Carolina and came to Florida for the winter and was not able to see the great victories. I hate that. It appears that the Panthers played better with the subs than they played with many of the starters. I hope this is a good sign.

Colin Cowherd said on his program one and a half years ago that Geoff Schwartz was a good pick, He said he had all of the physical attributes of Jake Long but need a whole lot of coaching. Is it coincidental that the two games he has started have been victoies.

Someone please evaluate his play for me.

How exactly is what I said false? I never said that a team has to field 22 great players. I said he was the type of guy that a team is always trying to replace. And yet he still is here. I like Diggs, nothing special but he gets the job done.

And don't use that as an excuse. If you have a chance to upgrade a positon you do it. Even the best teams can get better.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
