Peyton Manning/Drew Brees 1A-1B???

follow very slowly ok.....let us know when Rivers wins the big one. When he wins one in the clutch. All other QB's in the 'elite' status have. When it matters, he doesn't show up. In your words; please please do not try and dispute that. Until he wins 'the big one' he's not an elite qb period.

And as for you,

So, Rivers has been to the playoffs every year since taking over the starting role. Has Brees?

Has Brees had to beat Manning 1, your self procaimed best QB in the league, in Indy, in the playoffs? Rivers has....twice.

Please stop being foolish.

Rivers is very good, Brees is very good, and on my team, I would take Rivers over Brees....that's all there is to it.

Also, if you are going to say that until you win the big one, you are not elite, that is calling out your god....just sayin.

Give Rivers the same amount of years in the NFL in a starting role, and he will have achieved exactly what Brees has to this point, I promise.

Answer the questions, respond intelligently to the post......

oh, nevermind.....probably can't do that huh..

I seriously don't think they are on the same level. Rivers doesn't command like Brees, doesn't have the accuracy. Terrible delivery. Cocky. Some on his own team/town hate his guts. Brees, not so much. He is a stand up dude; say what you like about him. And his overall skills, comprehension blow Rivers out of the water.

I know that you've followed him since he's 19 and happy that you've watched him progress. He's a very good qb, but if you think he's an 'elite' QB....well there isn't much more to be debated with you.

You obviously do not watch much football, at least ouside of the Saints.

Rivers is known for his command of the huddle and the field. Also accuracy and touch are some of his best attributes. Delivery means nothing in the NFL, just ask Dan Marino.

Cocky, yes. That is something that every pro athlete is.

I have never heard anyone on the Chargers, or in San Diego call out Rivers, at least not since he has taken that team to the playoffs each of his starting years. (something that Brees did not do)

There is no doubt that Rivers is elite, no question what so ever. The same can be said for Brees.

Do you want to look at playoff wins....completion %...TD's to INT's....games won as a starter....QB rating.....Yards per completion?????

You just tell me how to gauge elite QB's and lets put your god against Rivers, and lets make cases.

But you know better than to do that, don't you?

I know one step is getting to this weekend....Brees didn't cost his team a playoff game yet. Rivers has cost his team multiple playoff games. Until he gets over that hump, you can pull out all the papers you want chief. It's the truth.

You mean the one where they lost by three points and missed three FG's?

Oh yea, the game against the pats when they were up by 8 in the 4th, and McCree dropped an INT to let them back in the game...or when Parker muffed the punt to give the Pats good field position.....I could go on....

Lets face it, you have no idea what you are talking about, and that's OK.

Not sure what your deal is, but to say that Rivers is not an elite QB is insane, and you are the only person that I have ever talked to that thinks that.

I am done with this argument, as you are the only person on the board that disagrees with me.

If I truly am the only person that you've ever talked to that feels that way you need to venture outside of NC periodically son

    • It's not sustainable,  although he deserve credit for the win also, as he made clutch plays as he does with every win we have.
    • As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.
    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
