Has anyone actually seen rhys kick a field goal?

From his wiki:

"He was named the NFL Europa special teams player of the week in week 3 by tying the league record for the longest field goal in League history with a 56 yarder."

"Lloyd signed with the Baltimore Ravens again as a free agent in 2007 and made an impressive 55 yard field goal in the Ravens preseason finale against Atlanta"

Also, I remember during last year's training camp they were saying he practiced as backup FG kicker and was booting them through the uprights from 50+ yards out.

In the end, we really don't know, he hasn't been given a chance recently so, he could be amazing or he could be dismal.

So you don't think the Panthers have ever bothered to try Rhys out @ kicking field goals.

I'm sure they have, but we have no way of knowing if he's good or not.

Basing a conclusion on whether or not he's a good FG kicker by the simple fact that the Panthers haven't used him in a game at that position would be doing him a disservice.

Plus, we know that the coaches have favored vet's over potentially talented younger players regardless of which player is actually better. I can think of at least one big example of that in recent years ... ;)

ive seen him hit it at 55 yards during pre game warm ups as a panther but hes never kicked a field goal for us.. idk why he seems really good during warms up even tho in collage he sorta sucked

Seen him do that numerous times, think I saw him hit a 60-61 yarder once.

This, and how he and Kasay parallel the Delhomme/Moore sage worry me.

He may be pricey at a $1mill tender but I feel as though we may be letting a very good all around kicker go...

I'm going to take a leap of faith and assume the Panthers willingness to lose him is a direct result of their evaluation as to his ability to kick FG's.

Kasay may be "Mr. Panther" but he's old enough that the bottom could drop out at any minute.

I'd like to believe this as well, but there could be other factors, money not the least of them.

    • I am not sure it should be a ‘sell out to go to the SB’ season. And hope they don’t.  At the same time I was thinking you absolutely must find out if you want to pay for Bryce or not. That means putting it on him. No protecting and trying to hide weaknesses with the run game and a super conservative calls.  So I wish they would do it and find out, win or lose, 2026. No more developing. Time to do it. Let’s see once and for all.
    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
