I going to have to disagree with most of you. Pepper's was a good DE and I believe he gave 100% ever play and I feel he will do the same at the Bears. I Just feel week in and week out and play in and play out he match up better with some guys then others. But they come a time when a team have to look at a guy and say is he worth this much money.

Hell we lost jenkins when we decide to stay with Peppers, didn't have enough money for them both. The bears might have a hell of a Defence this year. But if there is a new cap next year Peppers and this other players with big contracts is going to kill that team.

I feel strongly about if there is not cap next year they will not be football in 2011.

How is this even an argument? Even Bears fan's realize he takes plays/games/seasons off. If your statement was true it wouldn't take a teammate to publicly call you out to do your job. Had Beason not confronted the issue, I'm sure Pep would have sat out the whole season. Peppers gave up even before Jake started bombing multiple games. He (and his salary) was one of the key failures last year for the panthers and there were only a couple/few they just happend to be major.

As far as the future salary cap goes, the Bears FO has an exceedingly good salary cap management system when it comes to structuring of contracts. So, I'm really not at all worried about us being hurt on our cap.

I don't know, and none of us know, if Pep truly takes/took plays off. The perception is that he does/did. I'm among that group. However, there have been colleagues of Pep's who have said that it only looks that way because he is so gifted. I, personally, think that's fraternity loyalty. Still, I'll take his double digit sacks with some plays off in replacement of what we have.

Word is Alex Brown is on our trade block. I like Alex a whole lot and don't want to see him go, but if we do trade him, the team that gets him gets a true professional who will definitely set an example with his work ethic and attitude. That dude has worked for everything he's gotten from the start.

I think peppers is going to play well. I think he just straight up did not want to be here, especially after JR called him out publicly. I think he's excited to be a in big city and finally have a change of pace. I think he'll play well at least for a season or two. I think his motivation problems will pop up every now and then. If the team has a bad season though he will dissapeer.

Peppers always loved being at UNC but he would take games off there also. I know everyone has it in the back of our minds that he was holding back because of us but really its just Peppers. He will never become great because he dose not want too. All he needs next year is the two Lions games and he will make the pro bowl on those sacks alone. The rest of the year he will be a non factor.

There were even higher offers, but he wanted to be in chicago.

Actually there wasn't. Chicago is the only place Peppers would have got that contract and that kind of money. No other team would have paid him that much. The Bears basically doing a front loaded contract where they can cut him after a year, so now he is getting paid like he was franchised, but he technically isn't.

Would you rather have one slightly older rolls royce that breaks down every other week or 4 turbo charged corvette's in pristine condition?

There is why he was traded.

The Panthers offered him more days before...

True, but the Panthers FO doesn't seem to be making good decisions lately. The panthers offered him more a couple seasons ago, but it was spread out over a longer period of time. Peppers SHOULD be of more/most value to the team he has already played for and dominated for, for 8 years. There is no argument he is overpaid. He will be the highest paid player for the second year in a row, granted one was a franchise tag, but this year it isn't. No player will come close to making as much as he will this year. The number is just absurd. FYI: In 2009 Jared Allen made less than half of what Peppers did and this year probably closer to three times as much.

The players can be mad all they want but you can't argue with logic and it would be illogical for a team like the panthers who traded a first to work on a DE to replace Peppers to keep him for 20 million a season when that money is needed to keep our stars and upcoming stars. When the panthers paid him 16 million a year he didn't do too much for them, until his teammates called him out. $20 million wasn't going to motivate him, he wanted out. Perhaps in the bears system he will get 3 sacks a game and be worth 20 million, I doubt it but like dimbee said only time will tell.

His contract does not set up up for the rest of his careeer. The Bears have the right to void the contract after one season...guaranteeig him $20M this year.

What is unfortunate for the bears is I see him playing pretty good this year. Once the new wears off they will get what we got the last 3 or 4 years (if not worse, you know 30+ pass rushers). Even if he doesn't, unless he has a terrible year (don't forget he was still highly sought after even after a 2.5 sack season), he would just get paid again next year.

Besides I don't see how paying 20 mill to a guy, with him have a bad enough season for you to take that loss, is a good thing. Cough-Jake-Cough

So a bunch of fans are mad they lost an elite player. After 25 sacks past two years, he is playing great. That's why he got paid. There were even higher offers, but he wanted to be in chicago.

Thanks for helpin your best defensive player out the door. I am thrilled he will be a Bear.

Good luck with that. BTW how is that big acquisition you got last off-season working out for you? When will people ever learn?

pretty great. it made our oc accountable. weve been in the bottom 10 of the NFL offenses except being #15 once since 2004. cutler has set records for our franchise despite playing behind a poor oline, unpolished wr's, a terrible oc.

this yr under martz is going to be much better. not to mention since benching orlando pace last season and plugging in our 2008 1st round pick where he belongs at LT our oline played better and we also beat Minn.

Oh btw, Peppers played great against Minn. for you guys. Looking forward to him playing them, GB's horrid Oline, and the Lions 2x a yr. Peppers is gonna have a phenominal yr playing in our division. Plus we get Urlacher back. 4/7 of our front 7 are probowlers. 2 of them are All decade players now. We'll be good this year. Our D will be stout again and our Oline will imrpove under Mike Tice.

We will at least be 10-6.
