Happy Birthday Bob!!!

Our teams founder and current minority owner Robert L. Johnson turns 64 today. Seeing our team clinch its 1st playoff berth last night must've been an awesome birthday gift. Even though he will be given very little credit for the success of this franchise and the season we're having this year, all praises due to Bob for his vision and support over these first 6 seasons. Enjoy your day Bob!

Bob's "vision?" Yeah.

Yup, Bob's vision. Got us in the dance within 6 years. Built this baby from scratch, built the arena from scratch. We're lucky to have had an owner who even in losing seasons wasnt afraid to spend money and who wasnt ego driven. An ego driven owner wouldnt've given Mike full control the way Bob did (cough*Shinn*cough), so we're very fortunate to have an owner who hires qualified people and puts them in a position to win and gets the hell out of the way. Im glad that Bob decided to stay on and continue as an owner here. Outside of our fans who were from day 1, I cant think of anybody else who deserves this right now more than him. Im happy for Bob, Paige, Brett, and the entire Johnson family.

built the arena from scratch.

More like he built the arena from tax dollars that the citizens of Charlotte voted as a majority against yet still got pushed through.

He gave MJ full basketball control because he realized that he didn't know poo about NBA basketball and how to be successful at it. He then sold out his majority because he was tired of losing money. He did so at a precipitous time too- now with real leadership and vision, we are on the precipice of greatness. At least he'll still be able to reap some of those benefits, albeit quietly and unnoticed.

Won't happen with KT around! The Bobcats have changed for the better, can't deny it. Yes, Bob brought money and the Cats to Charlotte and everyone should be thankful for it. But, Bob is gone...MJ is here to take over...and Larry Brown has turned this team into a contender. Don't let your controversies take away the real subject here...THE BOBCATS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!! GO BOBCATS!!!!

That vote was held in 2001, Bob didnt arrive in town til 2003. And besides, you're super late with this one, this has been debunked 3 years ago. Dimbee, stick to college basketball and leave the NBA and Bobcats to us more knowledgeable fans. Take a cue from Bob, leave the NBA discussions up the pros, and get the hell out of the way. :D

OK, literally Bob is still here...monetarily. We appreciate him, KT, I respect your enthusiasm. The reigns are in MJ's hands, that's all I'm saying.

No doubt. MJ is gonna do his thing and his visibility will help this franchise TREMENDOUSLY. Bob said the best move he ever made was getting MJ to invest in his businesses and also become a part of this franchise. I agree. That being said, Bob is still very much apart of this family & franchise. He left this baby to MJ in great condition. Now all we need is for MJ to lead us to our goal of an NBA title someday.

    • I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...  Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it
    • This reminds me on Madden where you create an alternate uniform and the pre-recorded voice overs talk about how hideous your uniform looks. 🤣
    • There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game. The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way. I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot. The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.
