One huge problem w/ the QB situation

I think the biggest thing that Clausen can do is become the film/gym rat he says he wants to be. If he's the first guy there and the last to leave, then that's leadership by example. And for that, he won't need a veteran presence.

Stuff like pointing out a WR's mistake is easily fixed. If he has the right kind of ego, he'll quickly learn to not just accept responsibility for everything, but to demand it. And that's also something that can be learned. More important, it can be faked. As long as he says the right things all day long, he'll be fine. But that's only if he's out there working harder than everyone else. You can't fake a work ethic.

That's something that we'll all be able to see very soon. And a nice byproduct of it, if it happens, will be the effect on Matt Moore. I'm not saying that Moore is lazy, but I've never heard anyone talk about how he's the last guy on the practice field. And there has to be something behind the fact that he has never won the starting job outright, or even the second string job. If it's been a lack of comfort with his work ethic, or his style, perhaps two rookie QBs who get there early and stay late can change that.

I don't think it takes a vet QB to show a rookie QB how to be a pro. The Panthers have some strong leaders and mentors in the locker room like Smitty, Beason, Gross and Kasay... they won't let this kid slide.

I tell you what will be interesting this year.....to see who the elected offensive captains are entering this season.
